I love the form factor of this mod. Nice size and comfortable fit in the hand with a rubberized feel to the finish. Nice LED display, a just ok fire button that doesn't fire 100% of the time and is audibly clicky. Three button control. Atty resistance and battery voltage meters. Hits about 0.5-1.0 volt higher than the voltage that you set (compared to my Provari). The 18650 battery lasts all day.

I've ended up with two of these. The first had a wobbly top connector pin from the get go. After 7 weeks the three front buttons fell into the body. It still had a week to go on the 60 day warranty, so it was exchanged for a new one. This one seems to have a solid top connector pin. On both Grippers, the battery door appears flimmsy, like it could easily break if you aren't extremely careful using it.

I use cartotanks on mine exclusively. I can't say, based on my experience with the first one, that I can recommend one without reservations. It's really too bad that this isn't manufactured better.

I ended up getting a much better constructed Segelei/Ovale V8 while waiting for the second Gripper to return. I can recommend it without any reservations. It uses two 18350 IMR button top batteries that also will last all day, the batteries are a really tight fit to insert, but that is the only issue that I have with it. $30 from Discount Vapors. DV also has a $9 leather pouch/lanyard which I also bought.

Nice review, I had been on the fence about these as well. I will check out the Ovale. Thanks

Are these now sold out? I cannot find them. Please post link if I am mistaken. Thanks!

Segelei V8 Incremental VV Body - Black Rubberized

They are indeed now out of stock. When I ordered mine a month ago they had hundreds of them in supply, so they sold a lot of these. I don't know if this was a limited production or more can be expected in the future - contact Discount Vapors.

This thread at ECF is devoted to the Ovale V8: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/variable-voltage-apv-discussion/302456-ovale-v8-vv-discussion.html

Another vendor (Arizona Vapors?) was selling these in a 2-for-1 deal which also sold out quickly. This was discussed in the last few pages of the above ECF thread. Smoktek also had a limited run of these months ago. I googled Segelei Ovale V8 and found no other vendors selling these currently.
