So I bought a used magnum/detonator off a ECF member (I was originally made by the original creator I believe. It has the a circular cut wooden top, instead of the epoxy, or whatever it is people are using to seal it up.

Anyways,

I thought my battery was bunk - but turns out it's a loose connection somewhere. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If I shake it or hit it, sometimes it works.

I'd like to do some surgery and check out the connections.

Anyone recommend a take down procedure? I don't know where to start. 8-o

Thanks!

check and see if moving the switch in different directions and pressures has an effect...

otherwise it may be a ground issue.

i can help you with solving the problem,,, but it'd help alot if you can take some reading using a voltmeter. test voltage at connector with battery pressed.. and report back with readings.

you can also test continuity of the ground by placing one probe on outter battery connector and the other probe on the hole where the laynard/wrist strap hole is drilled.
if you don't get the audibal tone for continuity with this test then it may be a ground problem with the magnum case... i've had alot of these grounding issues pop up with my latest batch of lights.

Oh really, so the flaw could be within the case itself? Can you elaborate?

Sorry I don't have a voltmeter and don't really have to funds to invest in a decent one ... maybe I can find one on craiglist.

I REALLY appreciate the help man - I'm sorta regretting my purchase, it's given me nothing but problems.
