Ok, I started this thread yesterday with a new idea (original thread was on VF). I had purchased a Sharpie Magnum permanent marker and wanted to mod it.

I hollowed out the bottom using my caveman tools (sharpened screwdriver and a metal file) and needed a way to get threads in it. Having only ghetto tools I decided to use the threads from the bottom of my old magnum mod. I cut it in half, filed it down to fit inside the market and JB welded it in there. That gave me the bottom piece and my kill switch.

I then brainstormed methods of keeping all the important parts in the top. I first thought about using a rubber stopper wedged in:

but quickly dropped that idea. My next idea looked much better on paper (or screen) so I started working on that one.

It ended up working pretty well and today after going to radioshack to get a switch I finally got it all put together. Once together I tried the maiden vape only to be severly dissapointed. I pulled the whole thing apart (not an easy job) and tested each part. Each part tested fine seperately but when put together nothing. I then put it all back and tested again. I realized that I had been testing with a dc jack while it was apart (nothing to hold battery to the leads) and with battery while it was together. That led me to finding that the batteries were causing it not to work. Seems the charger from DX is screwed and likes to show batts as charged when they arent. I now have them on the charger and hopefully in a few hours I will be hitting my new toy. ***Just took a batt off the charger and tested this bad boy out. Hitting GREAT!! less flavor and throat hit than my 510 by itself, but bigger clouds and it hits smoothly.

And now for the grand finale

The MAGNUM SHARP

cddz, I am sure you could if you found proper parts but the plumbing parts will be missing the endcap with the kill switch (big plus). The flashlight i used was $5 at walgreens and I have found the exact same ones at Frys electronics, walmart and DX. they are dirt cheap (as low as $2). The cool part is you get the switch and the nice endcap with it.

warp1900, I also like the paint left on it for novelty purposes. The fact that it is called a magnum did not even occur to me till someone on #vapors pointed it out to me. Thats when I decided on its name. I just cut a hole in the top of the cap and made it so I can place it on with my atomizer adapter on. Looks pretty cool that way. Ill take another pic tomorrow when there is better light.

I would like to thank both of you also for your help. Warp for the RCA PVMA pictures and cddz for the talk we had about mods (remember when I told you if the 18650 didnt fit, I would make it work somehow? this is somehow :p)

I cut a hole in the lid last night and slid it over the RCA adapter and it actually looks pretty good.

As for the cleaning, I started by drilling a small hole (with a sharpened screwdriver) in the bottom and then filing it wider with a metal file. Once I got it almost as wide as the casing I used pliers to pull out all the felt like filler. I then put it in a ziplock back full of alcohol and shook it up really well for like 5 minutes. I then emptied the bag out and did the same with dish soap (it was clean, but oily after the alcohol). After that it was pretty clean.

As an addition to this I would like to say that vaping is no longer something I do to satisfy an addiction. I now thoroughly enjoy every single hit I take off of this thing. I am vaping a DIY watermelon that tasted *good* in my 510 but tastes like a mixture of watermelon whipped cream and air in this mod. Its hard to explain but its a very smooth, light, creamy air. The exhale is a large thick cloud and there is no harshness at all. I am getting what I would consider 0 throat "hit" but I definitely feel what I am inhaling. I am going to have to cut my nic in half today because I am feeling the nic poisoning from constant vaping already.

To anyone who cannot make a mod like this you should save up and get one of the commercial ones because if they work anything like this, they are WELL worth the $140ish you will drop on them. A week ago I would have said it was a waste of money because its purely aesthetics but I no longer think that way.

Yeah, following DarkriftX's idea i got my magnum and king size sharpie earlier today.
King size is gonna be a challenge to do without cutting it to wire and place switch and connector, but i think it can be done.

:)

I have the king size in my drawer, The nose is real small but is still doable , the length is good, you could always go with a 18500 if you run out of shell length.

I have been deciding how I wanted to have my mod look. I thought about leaving the sharpie paint on it as a novelty but it started rubbing off really easily. I took one last picture of it with the paint on it because someone wanted to know if the cap still fit on it. I then decided to sand it down, shine it up and took some more pics.

Almost looks like a factory made, I'm a fan of the sharpie mod.

I'm working on mine and wish it will look as good as yours.

I tried your caveman tool approach but i destroyed a king size trying, lol, so I'm back to the tools I am used to.

Only problem is I am working on 5 different other mods at the same time, so I don't know how long it will take. ( I can never seem to work on one at a time)

Very cool pics DarkriftX

I think i will have to chop off the nose or it will look too long with the RCA attached to it, not sure yet.

Yes it fits an 18650 easily and still leaves about 1.5 inches clearance to fit switch and connector. Still the problem is working at the end of the nose to fit everything and solder it, I feel like I'm trying to build a ship inside a bottle.
