Mailing packages over 13oz. ...

Just received a nice note from the post office today for an overweight package. I didn't realize this rule so thought I'd give you a heads up if you mail PIF packages from home a lot using stamps like I do. This includes priority boxes, too.

"If your item weighs more than 13 ounces, and you have affixed postage stamps, you must take it to an employee at the retail counter of a Post Office."

I use "stamps.com" and had already been alerted to postal rate changes. It has been very convenient and very useful.

Nope pm it was mine she was sending to me. Just cause I know it is mine. Even tho I do not remember PIF`in with her. But I know she would send me a BIG heavy package like that. Cause she is nice like that.

Yep.. the PO told me that once it gets over the 13oz size, it falls into the priority range, so they ship it at the Priority first class rate. (or so they say )

I just bumped up the Shipping Tips thread for someone else, so maybe you can add this info there?

This new rule is different than what you were talking about though L'bug. We stamp sending, 13oz. and over PIF'ers are dangerous, I guess. They're making us take them to the P.O. instead of mail from home with stamps.
