Making a Puck Variation

Hey ECF... starting to mod so I want to get my new member posts out of my system. You guys are so darned informative that I never need to ask questions, I just search and read. So, thanks.

I tried a std. 510 and found it to be entirely too weak to get me off of Marlboro red 100s . So, I looked around to find the mod that I thought would be a great introduction for me that would also enable me to quit for keeps.

I'm building a 4 AAA Nimh puck out of two boxes. Being able to pick these parts up locally is a wonderful plus. I'm simply waiting for my 901 3.2 Ohm atties to come for my final test fitting before soldering and epoxying it all up in there.

I've made some modifications so that I can add a spray pump. Has anyone tried to put the button, led, resistor and power connector in one side and a 2-5ml spray bottle in the remaining 2 battery slots? Do they fit into that small space? I couldn't find spray bottle dimensions anywhere.

Hi and welcome to ECF, although it sounds like you've been around a while. I'm also from NE Ohio in the Akron area. There's more of us showing up all the time. If you want to look at mod parts try Madvapes. They have mister bottles here Pump Bottles and the dimensions are listed so you'd know if it fits before you buy it. Most people put the electronics on one side and leave the other slots open for batt's.

I will check out their pumps. Even some idea of small spray bottle dimensions will help. The ones I was looking at can be ordered with a metallic encasing for aesthetics.

The mod I'm building (How to build the puck...) uses 4 Nickel Metal Hydride rechargeable batteries so I have an entire battery case (roughly 2"x2.5"x5/8") dedicated to battery storage and one entirely dedicated to electrical and mechanical components.

I was also wondering if anyone has had problems with epoxy being near atomizers. Granted, I'm not putting any directly near an atomizer, I'll be securing my "901 power connector" to the case with it. The JB Quick Epoxy I'm using says it's good up to 300* F... that's only about 150* C. Does that pose a risk? Has anyone experienced trouble with this?

Update: Whew .6" diameter will be a tight fit!

I'm over in Kent and VaporBomb is in Barberton about a 15 or 20 minute drive from me. They used to be on Waterloo but recently moved to 2nd St. I haven't been to their new store since they just moved a couple of weeks ago. I just put my orders in online and select local pick up and drive over there the next day and pay for my stuff when I get it. They do have weird hours so if you decide to do that email them and ask when it's a good time to pick your order up. Also keep in mind that most of their juices need to sit for a week or so before they taste right. So don't order at the last minute.

The recommended adhesive for building boxmods is a 2 part epoxy, or JB weld. Either will stand up to the heat an atomizer will produce so you should be OK. Most people use li-ion batt's in their mods because they're smaller in size, higher voltage, and higher mah rating. A 14500 battery is about the same size as a AA so it'll fit in the slot on your battery box. But it'll be 3.7v and around 750 to 900 mah.

Cool. Thanks again, cskent! I had no idea about the wait time on fresh juice nor the new vapor bomb location. I sent them a comment yesterday about dropping by when they're open. I figured they didn't have reg. hours... not until there is high enough demand for that.

I got my 901 atomizer today and finished the mod. It was a breeze.

It hits like 3-4 standard 510s at once! I'm so impressed. I think I will prefer it to stinky sticks. I'm getting a head rush off of some 12mg Root Beer. I haven't had one of those in a while!
