I don't think there is such a thing as a copper spring; it's too soft. All the sprung contacts I have ever seen are brass. It will be a particular type of brass, heat treated in a certain way. The data is probably out there in Google-land.

Edit: I went on the Internet and I found this: Spring Brass Wire - Coils
I found other things suggesting that springs are generally not brass but might be such things as iridium plated steel or phosphor bronze, both of which might look like brass.
