I'm interested in making some of my own eliquid for me and some friends (Fed up of high prices and shipping times!)
I bought the following:
Pipettes (For transferring liquids of course)
VG (100ml it is %99.99 pure - nothing can be 100% ;P)
30ml bottle of flavouring (PG Base. Skittles flavour, because why not?)
10x 10ml Bottles

These are going to be 0mg nicotine.

What I plan to do:
Put 10ml or so flavouring in the 100ml VG bottle and mix it up. I'm then going to test the eliquid in one of my cartomizers and see how well it tastes, if I'm pleased with it then I'll use the pipettes to transfer 10ml to each bottle, so it should work out about right. I'm wondering if this is the best way to do it, and if this way will work.

Is this enough to make my first batch of eliquid? I don't plan on added PG separate at all. Thanks and happy vaping! :vapor:

You do need some amount of PG to get the flavoring cause vg doesn't absorb the flavoring. But I also don't make my own liquid but am looking into it, but that's what I've gathered, unless the flavoring has pg in it and that will just get mixed in with the vg then I'd say YOURE ON THE RIGHT TRACK.

Oh doh! I forgot to mention my flavouring is a PG base, forgot that was important, lol

You'll need to add water as 90% VG will be very thick and won't wick properly. about 10% should do it.

When you are starting out don't make 100ml's right off the bat. Make 10ml test samples. Start 1% or 1ml flavoring to 9ml VG that will be a 10% flavor mix. Anything more is a waste of good material. Get yourself some syringes to measure and a good ejuice calculator like this one.

Here's some recommended reading.

My blogs will give insight into all aspects of DYI, from steeping to what supplies to have on hand to a basic walk through mixing your first E-juice.

Then read hoosier's blogs. These blogs concentrate on fine tuning your mix and give insight on additives.

Then read Boletus's blog's. These blogs concentrate on formulation of nicotine bases regarding proper calculations methods for figuring Nicotine concentration as well as safety.

Then read Ginger's book "E-Cigarettes 102: DIY E-Liquid". It is a book which I've contributed to that delivers an in depth easy to follow guide in the art of DYI.

I recommend viewing VPLive Vape Team Episode #82: DIY Safety and bookmark it for future reference. It explains safety in all aspects of DYI.

then read the stickies at the top of the page.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.

100% agreed with the Above information. Those stickies and links are very helpful! I read them all about 2 times before I started my DIY.

My advice, small Test Samples!! I started 10ml batches and wished I would have done 5ml. I now mix up 5ml sample batches every time I mix a new juice. Then if I like it, I go ahead and mix up another larger batch.

Keep notes! It's tedious and time consuming, but will help Greatly in the future!!

Label. Label. Label. Be sure to label everything!! Nothing worse than making 7 bottles of Tester mixes, throwing them into the Crockpot for some steep time then not remembering what order you put them in or what they even are!!! (Beware - Do not rely on SMELL when trying to figure out your mystery juice!!).

Syringes, large bore, are your friend. I would recommend 10ml AND 1ml syringes.

I would try a 10 ml test batch first at your intended ratio. See how you like that.

Possibly try 8ml of VG, 1 ml of distilled water or .9 saline, and 1ml flavoring.

Even if you go with your option and it sucks, your only out a few bucks and you learned something.

edit: my first 10 or 15 mixes were pretty terrible.

It's going to be single flavour so it should turn out alright, I hope! :)
I have no idea why it's so exciting but I really can't wait :D
