Good honest review. IMHO there is not enough people providing these type of reviews. A great device that needs some engineering issues addressed, from the 2 reviews that I have seen on it. Keep up the good work. Improvements do not come cheap

Thanks for the complements. The Mako is a good looking product. It needs some redesign thats all.
Once you get the Mako set up it works great. Its just the set up process that is a royal pain.
No doubt. You wouldn't think it would cut into their profit margin too much to supply some extra O-rings and a battery spacer or two.
I just got my mako last saturday. It's my first mod. I think the big issue is that there's clearly too much variance in their machining process. On mine, the 14500 works without a battery spacer, however, I do have to leave one of the o-rings provided with the kit to make a solid seal.
It might also be that I am using it with a 510 adapter, which attached to the top piece differently, so it may protrude more into the battery casing. I'm not really sure.
Mine also works fine with 510 cartos.
I'll probably try and get a review up soon, as my experience has been a good deal more favorable, though I am less experienced.

Nope...no flack...in fact, most of the reaction has been quite positive. I guess the Mako doesn't have fanboys yet.
If you really want to start a fight....just say the Chuck has a cheep button that hurts your finger after a short time of use. Then you'll really get a fight.
The concept of the Mako is great. The locking button a good idea. Different battery combinations can and should work flawlessly. There are devices out there that can do that. The Mako needs to be tweaked, starting with the head assembly. Negative feedback is a good thing. It is constructive criticism that drive innovations not, GooGoo GaGa. That of course is IMHO.
In closing, units arriving scratched etc... there is no excuse for that!
