Maraxus Clone Button Getting Hot

Hello,

I've had problems with my Maraxus mod so I've shelved it for my TurtleShip and Emech. I got bored at work and started checking the forums and saw some people talking about how to fix it.

I've taken the button apart and it has the inner ring that some people have said was missing in their clone. The button wasn't firing unless I hit it in a certain spot but after taking everything apart and re-centering the spring, it's now firing correctly but the button still gets hot when firing it on my Patriot rda with a .4 dual coil setup.

Do I need to just replace the spring to fix this issue or is there something else I need to do to fix it? Would I be able to get a new spring from some place like Lowe's or Ace Hardware or do I need to order one online?

I run at .3 to .5 all day long on Sony VTC4s and 5s... my button doesn't get hot in the slightest... not even warm.
You should clean all of the contacts and threads in your bottom button assembly... I highly doubt that the problem is in your RDA at all... I also assume that you've already checked the RDA for shorts... Have you tried putting it on your Turtleship to verify that it works there?
What batteries are you using?

Its getting hot because the coil setup you are using is taxing the battery (Running too hot!) which is not good... try doing a .8-.7ohm wrap with 28ga on that rig and you'll see a difference in performance.

I want a lower build that .7 or .8. It works fine in my kayfun that's at like 1.5ohm but I bought it for sub-ohming.

The spring that is in the switch may not be able to properly handle the amperage travelling through it. Check out FatDaddyVapes for some magnets and that should solve your issue.

That's what I saw in another thread but I couldn't reply to it. I'm not sure on which magnets to get since they don't have any labeled for a Maraxus from what I saw. Have any recommendations?

I have a stainless Nemisis I ran a strip of copper tape down the inside of the tube . Helps with the conductivity. I run a 24 gauge dual parallel coil on plume veil .14 ohms using sony vtc's. Make sure youre using correct batteries and keep your threads clean as well.

I may have to try the tape idea. Is that a Wal-Mart or Lowe's kinda item or do I need to look for it at a specialty store?

The RDA works fine on my Turtle Ship, Vanilla and Hana clone. I'm using Efest 1600mAh IMR 18650 3.7 Li-Mn.

It doesn't get hot immediately but when chain vaping, it does get hot. I also noticed the spring has a spot towards the middle of the spring that's discolored. Almost looks like copper in the middle (it's normally silver). Is that indicative of being not up to snuff for sub-ohming? I meant to check Ace Hardware at lunch but I forgot.

So that shows that the RDA and build are fine... problem is in the mod itself.
With the spring showing discoloration, I would definitely replace it. I would also clean the contact pin and the threads with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and a scotchbrite pad followed by isopropyl alcohol and a paper towel. I would replace the spring and would stop using that mod until you do. That isolated section of discoloration is indicative of being your problem area.

If memory serves correctly, that is a 30A battery, so, assuming that the battery has not been over stressed or otherwise damaged, it should be okay to use. At .4 ohms, you should only be pulling around 10.5 amps on a freshly charged battery... that is well within the limits of the battery.

Thanks, man. I plan to check out some of the local hardwares stores on my way home in about an hour.

My maraxus benefited from a good full disassembly and cleaning of the switch. It also got warm when vaping a marathon, but I fixed it before it got to the point where anything got discolored or damaged.
Make sure the insulators are seated fully and the bottom insulator is not upside down.
Also if your spring has discolored it needs to go.
The plating on the maraxus clones will rub off, it's not very good.
