Thanks a ton Cori! This is really making me crazy. At least I can post in most threads again. Last week I was being timed out and was not able to respond.
The pictures are in my profile page..just click on pictures.
Well I went to my Charity dance. We raised a lot of money but I don't have the final totals yet..it should be free and clear around 7 thousand. This is only our third dance and it was a sell out (over 400 people).
Add that to the picnic last spring and we should be near 10.000. Not bad for a group that has been working for 3 years and started with 6 members.
So far we sponsor a girls little league team (we pay for everything), we give Ipod shuffle's to the most improved in each class in one elementary school, we help out the music class buy instraments in another. A local homeless shelter that works with families gets backpacks for kids (filled of course) to start school. We also have barrels at the door for the picnic and dance for donations for the shelters food bank. We had 3 filled barrels of canned food and gift certificates this year. The male branch of our group does a run for toys to donate to the toys for tots program. Each month the ladies go to a local dance club to have fun and bring school supplies that are given to the teachers (as a form of door charge) The last 2 months have been toys for the shelter. Once of year we clean our closet
out for the shelter. All mom's good clothes will be donated. She dressed beautifully.
On the fun side, I saw a lot of friends, danced a lot, drank a bit (not much though) and had some great food! Everyone brings a finger food for each table and shares. My 2 best friends were there, one is the president of the club and the other lives in St. Louis, so it was really a lot of fun. We have been best friends since we were 12.
My grandson couldn't help out this year, he had a double header (baseball) and was being scouted for college. (he's only in the 11th grade!) The scout came to see another guy last week and saw my grandson..it was just lucky he pitched an almost no hitter game (one guy got past him) He got there at the end of the dance..he loves to watch the old people party..he says we should be in bed! I saw my high school boyfriend, he's in Texas now, but came in for the dance, My ex boyfriend was semi-pro and was really impressed with the grandson! he also got to meet my family and was surprised that my kids knew who he was. He brought his two grown children.
If My spelling looks really bad, it's not my fault, I had to get a new keyboard and it's black..I can't see it!

Thanks Pat, I am sure the Ladies of my group will continue to work hard for our little area of Tampa. Our group has gone from a few Jr. High friends of one year to include people of classes 5 years ahead of us to 5 years below us. We even have a lady who was the school secretary at the time we were there as a member. Sadly only a few teachers come to our events. They are in their late 70's, 80's and 90's now. the ladies who take the tickets for us are the mothers of members and alumni of of our old high school. The volunteers who are ushers, security, bartenders, hostesses, photographers and raffle girls are our children and grands. It's a family affair to be sure!

Sounds to me like everyone had a great time and it was for a good cause. Good on you girl. Your grandson sounds very talented, I know you're very proud of him. Someday I hope to have a few grands myself.

I wasn't sure why you needed someone to start a new thread, didn't know you couldn't start them yourself. Thats no fun, hope they fix that soon. :p

The board has been very glitchy since we moved servers. They keep telling me it's my computer and I need to empty my cache. I do that daily anyway..so I KNOW that's not the problem. But I still can't start threads in here..it's very odd.
Anyway, Yeah I am a proud grandma, justly so. He doesn't get in trouble, he does fairly well in school..when applies himself. He is good to his Mom and dad and other grandparents. And he still wants to come and see his grandparents when he has time off school.
