I'm working on a rebuildable atty design and have some questions about base material. I was considering using anodized aluminum as my base plate and anodized aluminum screw posts for the actual nichrome wire connectors. Are there any dangers to this I should be away of? I know they use aluminum in cookware so it should be ok, and anodizing it should protect it from the juice itself (though there wont be a lot of juice on it as I'm building it around a feeder system). Just wondering if "stainless steel" is the preffered medium for that or if anyone is using aluminum.
I'm intending on using the base plate as the ground path and isolating the positive post with a nylon bushing.
Is there a non conductive option? I know you can't really use wood because it'd absorb the juice and warp with the heat eventually, some delrins would be able to handle the temperature I believe so that's an option I suppose, just fishin for other ideas.
