hi all

I've good things about the kayfun lite, but it'll be the first time I'm rebuilding and have looked at youtube videos and wanted to know a few things

the cotton balls used, can I just use standard cotton balls or do they have to be of a certain quality and also what other stuff might I need and what tools I should have beforehand

many thanks

I just use cotton balls that some in a sealed bag from the pharmacy.

I think your kayfun lite has a fill screw at the bottom; you should get a needle bottle for ease of filling.

Wire: Like Kanthal A1, but some people use Nichrome. You would need Nickel 200 if building coils for a temperature sensing mod like a DNA 40. 28 gauge seems like a popular size of wire for most builds.

Cotton: I use Koh Gen Do organic Japanese cotton because it's supposedly "better". Probably any pharmacy grade cotton would work though.

Wire Cutters: A small set of cutters or nail clippers to cut wire.

Tweezers: I have some ceramic tipped ones, that way I can squeeze the coil while firing it.

Small Screwdrivers: Various uses, the right size can be used for coil wrapping.

Ohm Meter: The purpose built ones are nice because they give you a base for you atomizer to set on while building.

Scissors: To trim cotton.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated

I have decided to just buy the kangertech sub ohm tank because I can just buy coils for it and it has good reviews, but it's also a hybrid because it can be used to build your own coils once i learn more...thank you

this video convinced me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4z1DlgzYPeE

Just make sure you have an appropriate mod for that one. And get some lower nic juice than your usual, that thing's pretty open and more suited for lung hits. My usual 12mg were too much on the Subtank Mini, when I tried one. Others have reported that too.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned but please get a ohm reader. Even if your device has one it's best in my opinion to have a separate ohm reader with a 510 connection for your builds. You can get a nice digital one really cheap off ebay or Amazon. I got mine off Amazon.com. this way you will know the ohms of your build before it's on your unit.. also expirment with different wicking media and see what tastes best to you. I absolutely love using all organic unbleached cotton! It's got such a clean taste and is very easy to manufacturer wicks from it. You can get a whole bag really cheap. It has Zero chemical treatments on the cotton and I think gives a great flavor! Also get a few different gauges of kanthal wire for different builds. I personally use 28 gauge in most builds. It's not too thin and not thick either and it's very easily shaped. If you will be making micro coils as well you might consider getting a butane torch. I make mine by condensing the coil with tweezers then while it's condensed I fire it with the torch for a second or two then with it still condensed I cool it in water. This tempers the coil and makes a perfect micro. You might also consider getting wire cutters and hemostats. Both come in very handy. As a wrapping tool you can get a coil jig or I just wrap on the tiny screwdriver that comes in the RBA kits. It's fast and works perfectly. I just wrap around it, then condense the coil by pushing it toward the handle. It works nicely. Be safe, have fun, expirment, see what works best for you. Hope this helps and best wishes! Once you taste a RBA/RDA you won't e ver want to turn back! They provide a wonderful flavorful vape. Best of luck! :)

You should use organic cotton. It hasn't been chemically treated, like regular cotton. Wearher you use cotton balls or koh gen do is up to you. But I've heard that koh gen do is easier to work with.

Organic mean it was GROWN using approved for "organic" processes and chemicals. NOTHING MORE. Organic has NOTHING to do with after the cotton is removed from the plant. Once picked organic and other cotton are treated the same.

"it prohibits the use of volatile synthetic solvents in processed products or any ingredient that is labeled as organic."
