Can these units be ordered with powder coating?

No, i don't have any plans to powder coat or plate (nickel, chrome etc). Pv's are in our hands 24/7 and being banged around and dropped, so just natural stainless steel is one of the best choices for durability.

Love the SS but I want a second P18 and wanted it to match my wheels.

American Racing: Official Manufacturer Website- custom, chrome, polished and painted wheels

In that case I would consider doing it with something like shrink wrap tubing, they do it in several versions/textures of black and it you want to remove it the surface under should be perfect as long as you are carefull taking it off again. I've used it on S.S. tools and it looked great and did the job untill I no longer needed it and then just ran a box cutter down it and gone.

ok...just thought a matte black P18 would look cool.

No doubt it would look cool, i definitely agree. It just that coatings or platings don't meet my thoughts for long term durability on a PV. Sure, they'll be blingy for awhile, but as the platings flake and wear and The way we drop and handle these things 24/7, after a few months, well, you know. With stainless, you can just polish it back up, but as plating/coatings wear, your only choice is to have it stripped down and replated/coated at a substantial penny. It's not like a high end tactical flashlight or the like, where it sits in a holster or in a case or drawer and gets occasional use. That being said, you could definitely send your's in to a plater to have it done, i sure wouldn't fault you for that :)

Instead of painting or plating, you could always google "vinyl decals" or "vinyl adhesive sheets" and wrap your pv. I did some of my other pv's in a blue and black carbon fiber scheme. They look nice and when the wrap starts to wear out, just peel it off and re-wrap it. It's a decent non-permanent method. Vinyl can be had in any color or pattern you want without risking damage to your precision pv.

I used to work at a craft store making their vinyls and I'm considering making something and having them print it out for me. It might be cool to put some eyes and teeth shapes on the feeding tube section of the vapemate. Its got sort of a dinosaur-like shape in profile. Once that comes in the mail Im going to measure it and make an interesting vinyl skin for it. Maybe I'll put some on my p16 when it comes too, but I somehow doubt that I'll want to alter how that looks.
