I've been moving back and forth through the extremes of PG and VG. Currently I'm headed back towards the VG end of the spectrum. In doing some, I want to avoid the rather thick phlegm that can form in my throat and interfere with my speech.

What is the maximum amount of Distilled Water that can be used with VG? Are there any precautions with high levels of DW?

Kurt previously for several years recommended 20-22% water/alchohol/flavorings and the rest vg, when doing max-vg.

However, last I read him state he used 15% water(and 5% water in the vg nic, but that's so little to disregard), but that it probably was to steamy on very high wattage.

I myself used 20% water for a long time, but have now changed to 10%, because I have beginning to use higher wattage than I used to...

A general rule of thumb, is that water equals 4 times as much thinning as pg, meaning e.g. 15% water is thereabouts a 60/40 pg/vg viscosity mix...

The only thing too much water will bring is: lower density vaper, hotter vaper, more crackling and chance of flooding more. Also it changes the flavor if using such, so you need to be experimenting some...

Thanks for the input.

For now, I've decided to go with the notion that 80% VG / 20% DW thins VG to PG levels. Also, that helps hold down the total VG level without increasing the PG level much. In essence, I'm watering the VG content down a bit...hope this works to keep down thick phlegm in my throat.

If it were previously a 30 / 70 mix of PG / VG, it will now be 30 / 56 / 14 mix of PG / VG / DW.

In the spreadsheet example below, I'm considering Flavorings as PG and actual nicotine in the base as VG.

I'll give something like this recipe a go in a few days and start to adjust from there.

Again, thanks.

What ever you decide to do, adhere to the 2nd Fundamental Rule of DIY.
