I actually had my mother's XL stick on today. I looked down the battery hole with a bright flashlight, and noticed the center post was out of alignment (It is connected to the diaphragm). I gently pushed it until it was centered again. I used a very very thin dull pick. Works like a champ again! A very small clyndrical coffee straw might work as well.

I think it just got bumped around or my mom took too strong of a drag.

Be VERY VERY careful if you are going to realign the center post. If you put ANY pressure on the membrane you WILL most likely tear it, rendering the battery useless! I'm sure any tears are not covered under warranty!

Of course it was easier to blow into a cart. The cart has air holes. That air was routed out the sides of the cartridge, with very little getting into the battery.

The point isn't to inflate the battery or anything. The point is to put inverse pressure on the switch. Blowing into the cart will insert more juice into the battery making sure it freezes up even tighter in a few days when that dries, making rescue even harder/less likely to succeed.

I hear you... but it worked for me, and it's still working... sometimes the unconventional can reap great rewards. Happy vaping...

seriously tho, the dropping-and-breaking situation is not a good one for me. i'm clumsy to an absurd degree. so far i haven't killed any of mine, but i already have the temptation to make little padded coats for them out of... bubble wrap?

While reading this thread I was considering something similar except maybe silicone or thin rubber. I have a rubber-y case that I keep my iphone in and have dropped it on concrete a couple times. Not even a ding or a scratch!

The number of g's it'll withstand aren't known. I don't have enough batteries I'm willing to sacrifice to derive that number. That said, I suspect silicone or thin rubber aren't going to absorb enough of the instantaneous shock of a direct drop.

Bubble wrap may. A heat-sealed airbag like they use for pack-and-ship most certainly would distribute the force. You'd have to scale it down but not so far down that the shock characteristics change for that device.

Maybe modeling and simulation? Again, without knowing the survivable shock it'd be hard to back into a reliable number though.

Slip one or two pencil grips on it and it should absorb plenty of shock plus make it less likely to roll off a table.

I was actually thinking about the pencil rubber grips, but Taryn is always a step ahead!

I love my lanyard, absolutely love it, but it does have it's situational purpose. In the car, at home, or casually going about my day, it is bar none, the best solution!

That being said..... I work LONG hard hours in a restaurant, and I feel that the lanyard string is too fragile for my line of work. I do tuck it in my shirt, but then I also don't want to perspire all over my battery! I know I could replace the leather string with something REAL heavy duty, but if I get it caught on something, I'm gonna get whiplash!

So I am looking into a belt mounted pen case. I've been searching for them around the internet, looking for a perfect price/quality/durability combo. A pen case could come in handy for me, since I use XL batteries, which only fit in a lanyard. With a pen case I could store my XL's with cartos attached!

For examples:
I can't post links due to my low post count, but just search google for "pen case" then click on "shopping results"
