I find it interesting that the glasses were produced in the US. The first thought you usually have when something like this happens is about cheap Chinese manufacture. It's very reassuring to know that our country is doing so much better.

McDonald's recalled them. Many companies discover a problem with one of their products and issue recalls. They made a mistake. The are sorry. And they are fixing it.

But the "McDonald's is evil and must be brought down!" people are all over this. They probably feel like they made it to the finals on "American Idol" After the protests and blogging they are going to go out for a latte with their anti- Wal-Mart friends.

I think I'll have a Quarter Pounder for lunch today.

I'm never happy to hear about dangerous products. It's not like the anti-corporate crowd ENJOYS watching these big companies make potentially harmful mistakes. Maybe, just maybe, if these huge corporations weren't causing so much harm, people wouldn't be so rabidly anti.

People are opposed to these corporations because of the damage they do to the environment, the local economies, the workers, and often consumers themselves. It's not a popularity contest, it's about corporations doing business and making profit in an ethical or non-ethical manner. Flaunting the common good in pursuit of the almighty dollar is not something to be celebrated.

And because of the size of these corporations, the impact is much larger. If one mom and pop turns out tainted paint, it affects a small handful of people. If McDonalds does it, it affects millions.
