Hey there, I have been vaping for 10 mos now, and loving it!! I started with a Joytec EGO-C and CE5 Cleromizer (I think lol), not long before I upgraded to an MVP 2.0 and ProTank II, which I am still using today and really enjoy (especially after getting the air control valve ) So...

I have been reading a lot about mechanical mods and how durable, and adjustable they are.. I am still a little cloudy on a couple things...

1. Difference between my MVP/PT II and a mech basically is a chip.. Mechs are basically a battery to a switch, to a coil..... Is this correct?

2. Charging: My MVP lasts me 1.5 - 2.5 days depending on how hard I beat up on it, but charging is simple, plug it in, and it charges to capacity and stops. No fuss no hassle.. I have been told that the batteries for mechs are touchy, you have to be careful with charging cycles, and usage???

3. My MVP hits pretty much the same from a full battery until dead, Do mechs typically have good power when full, decreasing in power as the battery is expended?

I do a lot of outdoorsy things, so durability is definitely something that has caught my eye, but just how different is the experience from using am MVP?

The input will be greatly appreciated!! :)

1: Mechs are a battery and a switch. APV's like the MVPs etc have a chip and has adj voltage and/or wattage. Really when you adj wattage your adjusting voltage but the mod does the calculations for you. Mechs wattage is determined by only the battery and the resistance of the coil. APVs have a limit that is less forgiving on the resistance, wattage and amperage. Mechs depend on the safe practices of the operator more than an APV. If you forget to lock the fire button an put it in pocket or set it on the switch it will keep firing until something goes. But it's pretty easy to do that if you just have a routine. Most APVs will shut off after a period of time and often have a thermal shut off.
2: Mods like the MVP have an integrated battery and you charge them in the mod. So if it goes dead your done vaping until it charges. Note you are skipping over on other class of APV the tube mod. Those are smart and you change the battery when it is drained. You save the cost of having a spare while charging. In a Mech you do need to be careful about how low you let the voltage go. You can kind of tell when it's getting low when vapor drops off. But i check mine periodically with a meter.
3: MVPs or any APV have pretty much the same voltage until it reaches the shut off point usually when the battery is at I believe 3.4 volts. Durability the mech is far more forgiving. You drop a APV in the water it may not like it. The mech you take it apart dry it and go right back to using it instead of putting in a jar of rice and praying.
Note it's good to have a mech since they are so simple less to go wrong you can fall back to it if the others are dead. They also open up things RBA's an Dual coils which i love.
