I'm looking into getting my first mechanical mod but I really don't want to drop $100-$150 on one. So to save some money, are clones a good idea? Are they safe? Is the quality too crappy to even mess with? Thanks for your help.
All my SXK/Infinite ones are really well made. I have an authentic Stingray X as well, and my clones seem absolutely identical.
I do have a Kepler clone that isn't close in quality to the SXKs, but it does work well. However, if I dropped it, I know it would dent.
There are some good deals on some authentics right now. I picked up a Rangarok from Vaperrange for $30. The MMV Nanos are on sale. I also saw the GG Esterigon for $80 I think.
I have a SXK/Infinite Stingray X that has been flawless as well. I don't have any experience with the Praxis clone, but if the machining is anything like the Stingray X, I think you're good to go.
I have two Nemesis, 2 Marstech Lions, which belong to Nemesis as well, a very nice brass Stingray and a brass Papps, all clones. They work absolutely fine. If you read reviews and discussions on fasttech, or look at the ratings, you can't go that wrong when buying a clone there.
if your looking for a low price mech mod with a bit of protection (which is nice) the 100 watt Tesla Two works pretty good. I got one to kick around with and I like mine. it's small but comfortable and has a large 4,000 mah battery. it's a mechanical mod so no bells or whistles but the light on the button DOES indicate where your battery and voltage is at. it wont fire a short (which is great because shorts are not good) but will fire down to .1. any lower is basically a short so that's pretty low. it's very inexpensive and comes in several colors. check it out online and see if it interests you. I do think the minor protection it comes with is a good idea.coming from someone who HAS accidently fired a short in a mechanical before. that's so scarey. you wouldn't believe how hot and how fast a short will burn, so having a small amount of protection in my opinion is great! hope this helps. best wishes
I have a few Nemesis clones (like 5 of them) that I like not super expensive and have been trouble free. You just have to be a little more observant with batteries and coils their is a small learning curve to be safe and you will be fine.
