Hey guys,

Noticed something today....
I was vaping my hybrid mech mod trishul v2 21700, with a dead rabbit v3 rda the build in it is . 17 to. 18 ohms
I though it was vaping ok, untill i popped the same rda and build onto a regulated mod and wow guess what?
I set it to 100watts the flavor was enhanced by 3x and im getting that lovely crackle sound, on my mech it never crackled like this, nor give me a vape as good as the 100w regulated..
NOW im guessing...
The. 18 is to high of a build?
In order to get the same on the mech i need slightly lower?
Crazy how flavor increased by that much tho..
But yea the mech isnt pumping out enough volts im betting...

Where you least expect it....
With mechs, you're limited by the amount of watts and amps that a battery can provide. Of course, you can change the build to improve your experience but it will take some work.

If you liked the experience you got when using the 100w device. Perhaps you should continue using it that way and trying a different setup for your mech.

Yea i kno that but it just felt really underpowered prob the build i have in it is too high for the mech? To the point i want it at but yea ill try a diff build on it and see how it goes ill try like a. 13 build then or so its still under my amp limit, but the mech didnt even crackle when i vape it does on the regulated tho and also much better flavor @Unforeseen

Have we had the battery safety talk yet?

The harder you push a mech the sketchier it becomes.

Mooch

You will want to read up on battery sag and its causes.

You might also want to dig around in the old mech threads.

I understand you are hobby vaping here, and it’s fun and all, but there is an element of risk involved without an adequate understanding of the variables involved.

I have no idea if you have that understanding or not, but; it would be remiss not to mention it at every opportunity, because failure is not an option.

One thing that should be mentioned as well. If you do go back and start reading, about mechs and building for mechs, you will come across the terms Hard Short and Thermal Runaway.

A lot of times, when people are recounting their mech woes, they will say something like, “I had a hard short, the button got hot..”, or some such. This is inaccurate, so; read between the lines. Those sorts of comments are relating to thermal runaways, auto-fires, that sort of thing. Many don’t know the difference. A thermal runaway is sporty, possibly combustible. An actual hard short is not recoverable. It can be fatal. It’s likely to take a little piece of your heart, or face, or hand.

And, here’s the thing: you can develop a hard short with a perfectly good build. You could drop the mech. You could bump it against something while getting on a bus or climbing in an Uber.

Mechs were capable of producing more power, at one time, than regulated mods. That’s not really an issue now. You might want to ask yourself why you want to use a mech. For a lot of people who have mucho experience with mechs, the risks outweigh the benefits by a large margin.

Many people, myself included, have mechs in the vape stash, and, who knows, we may have to resort to them if regulated mods become hard to get, or disappear entirely from the market.. but many of us also have chips in the vape stash, just so we won’t have to. It’s not that hard to build a regulated mod if you have the chip.

I’m not trying to dissuade you from learning all about mechs, in fact I encourage you to learn as much as you can. But. When I see you posting words like “I’m guessing”, that just sends up a big Ol’ Red Flag. There is no point where guessing is an acceptable thing where unregulated mods are concerned; either you know what you have in your hand or you don’t, and if you don’t.. then you should put it down.

Let’s be safe out there.

    mosfet semi regulated mods.
I guess that's the category my Armor mod falls into. I just considered or thought of it as a 'regulated mech'. It has all or most of the features found on a full blown reg mod, including polarity protection and it won't fire on a shorted build. The things I like about it the most are that it has only one button whose only functions are to turn the thing on and off and to fire. It also has two tiny LED holes that display when firing, at the same time they are either red, yellow, or green depending on what's left in the battery. A nice feature of this particular mod is that it will accept a 20700 or 21700 or a 18650 battery.

I had one of those, nice looking mod and a great vape. Mine didn't last long. After about 6 months it started auto-firing one day. Luckily it was sitting on the desk right in front of me and I got to it in time. If that hadn't happened I would have picked up more of them. Maybe just unlucky, never heard of anyone else having a problem with them.

    JMO...

But it seems like you are getting down to that Bleeding Edge of where you want to be with a Mech. Don't you need a Little Safety Margin when doing your Math? Or when using Numbers that are supposed to reflect the Real World?

I mean sure... a Handheld Calculator can Accurately calculate and display 2 or 3 Digits right of a Decimal Point. But can the same be said about the way you Measure Resistance? And being off even a Tiny Amount as you approach Zero in a Denominator can severely effect the value of the Quotient.

And that's Not Taking into account Real World concepts like How Many Cycles does the Battery(s) have? Wear and Tear from Charging. Or if the Battery has ever been Dropped.

Chasing Lower and Lower Ohms on some arbitrary build is something that Most Vapers have done at some point in there Vaping career. But using a Mech Isn't the right tool to use doing it. Save your Mech for those Builds that Don't Require everything to work at 100%.

I've had mine for a few years now. I hope the day it stops working correctly doesn't arrive.

Lol why does everyone constantly bring up safety when i say mechs im very aware of battery hygene, build limit/amps and ive seen like every video mooch has ever put out i know about all of this :) so no worries
And i always check my battery wraps, i check a ohm calculator to see if my ohm build doesnt go past my amp limit of my battery, hell i even build it and test it first on my regulated before i put it on my hybrid mech and i make sure it has a protuding pin too.

Reason it wasnt hitting as hard btw was because my. 17 build after voltage drop and all was only pushing 70watts,i was comparing that to regulated but at 100watts..
If i want it to hit the same as 100watts regulated id prob have to drop it to maybe. .13ohm??

But thanks for feeling concerned haha ill be ok

@The60WattGUY Do you know why the fancy regulated mods came into existence?!?

Someone said, "there has gotta be a safe way to do this sub ohm stuff".

Anyone who goes as low as you are going on a mech mod has an explosion in their near future.
It is no longer a matter of IF, it's just a matter of how soon.

If you want to do sub ohm, ..... have at it, but do it safely on a regulated mod. Don't end up being someone giving the rest of us mech mod users a bad reputation.

0.13 is a very low resistance. Some regulated mods won't let you go that low. For others, that's the minimum cutoff. I doubt that lowering the resistance will net you the results you desire anyway. The lower you go, the more current required of your battery. If your current setup is only netting you 70 watts and is underpowered as far as vape production, then the same battery will need to put out more voltage to get the same results, straining the battery even more. What mech mod are you using? If it is a single battery mod, and you want more voltage than you are getting, then you might try a dual battery, wired in series, like the Noisy Cricket.

I haven’t used a mech in years myself. Modern batteries are too explosive. Back when I did, though my awnser would be “change your batteries. If that doesn’t work rewick, and if that doesen’t work make sure the inside of the tank isn’t clogged up. Particularly the air inlet. Sometimes simply rotating the outside 90° will fix it. If none of those work have a look at your charger or maybe your batteries are worn out. There just isn’t much to a mech to have a problem with.
