Gmu, there is no rationalization for socks and sandals. One must choose either socks.......or sandals. There is only ONE rationalization for socks AND sandals and I have attached a pic for your viewing pleasure.

That topic has been argued to death around here. Gotta be thousands of corpse threads with an identical topic.
We politely killed this thread and it keeps coming back like an atomic powered zombie.

Edited to add:
o_O You've been a member since 2012... How many times have you seen this topic argued here
LOL!

Thing is, I've been vaping since 2011, became a member way back in 2012. But I have not used my account since then, only been active for about a month or so then, until I decided to be active again last July lol :)

I started vaping a few years ago. Back when I started mech mods were big. I bought quite a few. I still have them, plus dozens of other devices. I have a huge collection. I also have quite a few regulated/chip mods. I wouldn't say one is better because it served a purpose at that time.

Everybody has a preference. I don't like lemon flavored eliquid but I'd never say strawberry is better. That's just preference.

No, no strawberry is definitely better.;)

Gee "whats the point in sub-ohming" I'd often ask myself. After all much of what I've read is larger coils equals more surface area and more surface are (generally) equates in heat being spread over a larger area and a cooler and more flavorful vape. Right?

Enter the concepts of "space" and different heating wires which may have silly LOW resistance.

If you have the space for it, two 1.6ohm coils have more surface area than a single 1.6ohm coil (more surface area equates to more flavor right?) however the two in parallel drop into (0.8ohms) the 'sub ohm' range. Add a third or 4th coil in there and getting enough ohms to 'fire' becomes an issue.

With TC added to the mix (with Ni200 at least) having enough space to get enough windings (and high enough ohms) for your mod to fire can be a real problem.

Back on topic: while the 'mech mod' served a part of vaping history and some users today prefer their simplicity, I personally prefer the many safety and other feature offered by modern regulated mods.

I wish you hadn't done that.

But since you did.... I mean come on, $800 for an underpowered mod that doesn't even come in different colours?

I don't own any $800 Provari's, mine all cost less than those Chinese junk boxes yall been buyin'.

 Sorry, devil made me do it.

When I started vaping there wasn't all that much to choose from. There was the V1 Provari & the oversized tire gauge, and several really good mechanicals/unregulated mods. And, no one (gasp) was going to pay $200 for a Provari or Darwin. ;)
Hands down, the best PV on the market at that time was the Silver Bullet. So many of us learned how to use mechanicals long before we ever had a regulated PV.
The irony is that many of those old PVs were so well built that their longevity led to their demise.

There's not much point to see. You press a button. Electricity is delivered to the atty. Vapor is produced.
Understood. Although I would rather have that exact same scenario with safety precautions in place.

A car with and without breaks can go 100mph and get you from point A to point B, but I'd rather have a vehicle that can stop.

One thing that separate car analogies from actual cars is that most of the time they don't roll very well. Let go of the button - it stops on a dime. Which is not always the case of regulated mods with their tucked away electronics and locked away batteries. Like this little fellow found on a random google search:

While that is great in theory safety features can fail, as the last poster gave a great example of.

I have 2 cars. One has dual clutch tiptronic shifting, Quattro, ABS, traction control, stability control, self adjusting dampening system, speed sensing and adjusting steering... The other has none of that. I imagine the first car is safer, especially for a novice driver, but for someone who knows the car backward and forward and has spent a few days learning to drive properly at the VW Driving Experience, the 'mechanical' car is a lot more fun, especially in snow. I mostly use VV mods, though...

Yes, but I wouldn't trust a car made in China to either go 100mph or to stop...

Rip out all Made in China parts from your cars and see how fast they go :)

I actually look at where things are made. Absolutely none on my older car and other than possibly a few relating to computers in the newer car, none. My older car needed a new windscreen a few years ago and I spent a lot of money to get one made in Germany, rather than a standard replacement at one of those quick glass shops who only sell the ones made in China...
