I never leave coils, atties, clearos, tanks, etc. on my batts when I put into a case.
Unless something is in my hand, and I'm using it, the heater coil parts get "disconnected" by me.
That would solve 99.9% of problems. I mean, if you're not using your PV, what is the point of having a ready-to-fire coil/wick on it?

Referring to my previous post- here is what I was talking about why I wouldn't use the panasonic in a caravela.
Not enough insulation for use on a mech that the battery sits on metal. Would only take a good bump to make the negative to make contact on a caravela.
Compared to the aw that won't have this problem
I believe I watched twisted420's vid on the caravela and he mentioned he couldn't use his panasonics because it would start firing a soon as he tighten the button on to it.
If your set on using the panasonics just put a piece of tape with a hole cut out on the negative. Hope this helps and you get it up and running again with no issues.

The battery top would collapse once it overheated, preventing the circuit from being completed. This would have ruined the battery, but prevented an explosion. It could've also possibly protected the atty. I'm pretty sure she would rather be replacing a battery right now, rather than the atomizer.

Some people keep multiple devices ready with different set ups or flavors. It's not that uncommon. Do you take the bulb or batteries out of your flashlights when you aren't using them?

considering the locking ring was functional and in place ( switch locked out) the only other option to create a completed circuit would be a nick in the batteries insulative cover.... allowing the case of the battery to make contact with the inside of the tube thus turning it on....

I've never taken the mech's out of the house and i guess this is one of the reasons why.
I think its worth everyone having a classic vv/vw + clearo for out and about, i think all the built in protection and testing comes in to its own on the safety front.

It was never exploding. It was just continuously firing. The battery had nothing to do with it. That battery fired a sub ohm set up continuously for god knows how long and didn't get hot. Battery win.
Let's keep in mind that you're referring to "protected" Panasonic batteries here. He'd be fine using an unprotected Orbtronic or Panasonic (same manufacturer).
Take a look at this test so you can see how hot the AW's get vs. the hybrid Panny made battery. I stupidly threw one in my pocket a long time ago when I was have asleep and my keys caused a short. I was happy that I didn't have this happen to me with an AW after seeing this video.

I use protected Panasonics in my Magneto and always wondered about the seemingly thin outer jacket stopping it from shorting. It's a super tight fit in the tube too. Quite worried now!

That sucks! Glad you caught it before anything worse happened. The same thing happened to me only my mod was in my pocket so I noticed it pretty quick . .but not before it melted the isolators on my Kayfun. I had actually left it unlocked. The battery was AW IMR 18650, coil resistance was .7ohms. The mod was really hot . .not like yours because I noticed it heating up in my pocket and, since the button was getting pressed, it stopped firing as soon as I removed it.
It was a definite wake-up call, though, to always make sure my mod is locked . .I pretty much always do but I guess I got lazy . I was using it while watching tv, then got up and did something so put it in my pocket . .and then sat back down in my chair with it still in my pocket, unlocked. It took me several weeks to find, order and get replacement isolators.

If you are going to bag a device, take the toppers off. That way, if they fire (button gets pressed) while they are in the bag, there is no completed circuit so there will be no drain, no heat, and no fire.
Why would anyone engineer a mod where the battery is sitting on naked metal? What kind of an advantage could there be in that concept?

I bought some clear shrink wrap just because I've got several of the grey Panasonic 18650's whose bottom edges aren't insulated by the factory shrink wrap, and to re-wrap batteries whose factory wrap becomes damaged.
Yes these batteries do need more coating around the bottom. So now I have to buy a new atty, and a few more batteries. I'm out maybe $60 so it sucks, but I have learned a lot from it lol and I hate my caravela now lol stupid thing can't take an 18650 with a kick, and now I feel it's cursed o.o
