I can't take credit for the idea as I read it originally as an answer to someone else losing a rice pin from the button. If it was your idea feel free to take credit.

Backstory: I bought a nemesis clone with the kick extension section. At first I could not figure out what battery would fit. I tried my usual VTC5's and the button would screw all the way to the lock ring. I also tried some button top AW IMRs and still just barely making contact. Taking apart the button it became obvious the rice pin was too short. The pin would fall out and end up crunching around in the spring.

Solution weed eater string. The diameter needed is determined by the button. The length needed is determined by the throw of the button. I started by doubling the length of the factory rice pin. If the weedeater line is too thick to allow smooth button movement, sand paper will reduce the diameter quickly. Roughing the line also gives a "lubricating" effect. Hold a long section of the line in hand and rotate the end wrapped in fine sand paper. Cut off the worked end to length and through trial and error get the length needed.
