Hey guys,

Just wanted your opinions on mech mods, which I am looking to get into. The only two authentic ones I can find (both very scarce amount) in this part of the world are the Limitless Sleeve Mod and the dotmod.

To be precise, the dotmod won't even be here until end of September, so I have never actually tried it. As for Limitless Mod, I tried a demo unit at my local B&M and they have a new batch coming in 2 weeks and there are only 2 copper units left.

The dotmod is obviously more expensive, but I do like the looks of it better. However, in terms of performance and build quality, is it really worth the price?

For those who has experience in both of these mods, could you please tell me the pros and cons? Also let me know what your favourite RDAs are to use with these mods?

Thanks!

If you're going to use a Petri RDA, get the Dotmod Petri. All gold plated contacts on the mod and atty, for some reason they work together amazingly. If I could afford a Petri mod to go along with my atty I would buy one, and normally I prefer direct to battery topcaps. Limitless mods are great too, they're more customizable with the sleeves and are a bit over 24mm in diameter but are also very popular at the moment. If you were to get the Limitless, I would definitely get a Kennedy 24mm along with it. As for the Petri mod being more expensive, I disagree. Once you start buying sleeves for your limitless it'll be more expensive haha
Have you looked into the AV Able Mod? They use a hybrid top cap and also incorporate sleeves into the body of the mod, and if you browse through Instagram, you'll see some of the sleeves that are being made for them are beautiful.

The reason I'm only looking at these two mods is because those are the only two available where I live, and I don't want to buy online because shipping costs from US costs a lot. The Dotmod is definitely a lot more pleasing to my eyes, but I just wonder if the performance is worth the price. If the performance between the two mods aren't anything noticeable, obviously I'd go for the cheaper Limitless mod. I was also wondering if the Limitless mod with the Dotmod Petri would be a good combo. I really like the two post design on the Dotmod atty, so I think I will most likely get that regardless of which mod I go for.

The Dotmod Petri mod has all gold plated copper contacts for the atty and in the button housing. Plus the amazing etching on the button itself. The threads and center pin on the Petri atty are all gold plated brass, and believe me when I say, the gold plating is VERY thick. I have yet to chip a part of it even on the posts of the Atty.
The Petri atty and mod were pretty much made to go together.
The Petri atty is my daily carry, I've owned it since April (I don't have a v1.5, which is better all around) and I have not had one problem with the atty.
Are the contacts on the limitless the silver plated contacts? What sleeve does it come with, and do you plan on buying other sleeves? I can't comment on using a Petri atty on a Limitless mod, because I haven't tried that combo. I have tried a Kennedy 22mm on a limitless and that was just a fog machine.
I say if you're interested in the Petri atty, go for the Dotmod. Maybe you can get a discount on the combo if you purchase them together?

Oh well, back to the topic

I have no experience with both of the mod, but petri does look more convincing, and fancy.

Personally I would prefer a hybrid top cap, currently using a Derringer on 4Nine mod, both clones; going to get a SMPL and CLT mini V3 soon, clones too. If you're not in a hurry, you could consider ordering from Fasttech, yes it takes forever to reach but the 4Nine and Derringer I've got was well worth.

ADD: price for performance, 4Nine clones worth quite the shot

Read the OP, she's buying local because of shipping rates. I too prefer hybrid/direct to battery, which is why I recommended the AV Able Mod. How do you like your 4Nine? I love the design of the mod, but the clones I've seen had terrible threading. But I do love the fact that there's an insulator up top and the super cool floating magnetic button.

I know she's buying local and that's why I think FT might work, free shipping but takes forever to reach. My 4Nine has smooth threads, so far the issue is minor flaws, like the top cap being not completely flat, been flattening it with autosol just now. The authentic would be seamless (almost) with the pieces put together, but the clone wouldn't be that accurate. So I polished some lines onto it to accentuate/make awesome looks of the minor flaw

I think part of it is buying it in person and knowing what you're getting without waiting a month on fast tech

I have yet to hear any bad reviews from Dotmod owners... But the shop that was selling the Limitless told me that it's just over-hyped and over price and the Limitless is actually worth the money. But then again, he was probably only saying that because he wanted to sell the Limitless. I don't plan on buying other sleeves to be honest, I like the plain coloured look.

Lmao @Cloudd She's got taste too between a Petri & limitless. What are your color choices with the Petri mod?
These two are the only ones I'm considering purely because they're the only two authentic mech mods that are available here. The shop told me they're going to have all colours availabke for the Petri mod, so I can just pick whichever one that suits my fancy.

How much are they charging for the Petri & for the limitless? Would they cut you a deal if you were to buy a full Petri set up with the RDA as well? There's a ton of hype behind both mods, but at the moment, limitless is more over hyped because you can change the look of your mod with the sleeves.
If I get the Dotmod with their atty and drip tip, it'll come to about $324... Where as if I go for Limitless Copper + Royal Hunter RDA (They recommended this RDA), it'll come to about $223. Though I would probably pair it with the Dotmod atty and drip tip, which would make it $279.
