Once again I could use your advice!

A little bit ago, I asked for advice on quality rba's. So I have just received a GP Spheroid V3, a Russian 91% V2 and a KFL+V2 or second batch depending on the vendor. As soon as they are available I will hook up with a Penelope.

That brings me to you once again!

I would like to add two or three mech. mods to a collection. There are a lot out there and I prefer not to buy clones.

I am not a cloud chaser, so I would prefer mod's that are capable of a kick with out loosening the bottom cap to accommodate it and so far I am not in to sub ohm coils. I have looked at the GP mod's and the Stingray plus a few others. The problem I have is I know nothing about mechanical mods and this brings me to all of you.

Your advice is always appreciated and excepted, so what do you say?

Mech mods. The Russian and the KFL would look good on a Paps X. I'm not 100% sure if those attys diameter but even at 22mm, the Xs 23mm is stylish and all inclusive. And you can pick either the Lux or the ss. All tubes are included in the sale to run batteries in the following configurations:
18350, 18490/18500, 18650. And all with the kick.

Another that comes with several options is the Chi You. Once hard to come by, they are found all over and almost always there is one in the classifieds.
The spheroid would pair nicely with a GP Piccolo. Although not currently from the vendor, the GP pic thread would show you the looks. Another in that smaller diameter that's received great reviews is the simplicity by Super T. Both that and piccolo take the slender 14500 battery. This size obviously doesn't accommodate the kick.
The devices above are simple to maintain and clean with few parts.

I'm not a fan of mech mods, so please take my words with a grain of salt. A mech mod is literally a tube, a connector and a moving pin (Usually they also have some sort of lock-ring so you don't accidentally fire them). While I can admire the work that goes into machining them and the precision that they require....I don't get the appeal for one major reason:

Voltage drop. With a mech mod, you get to deal with this. I used a Silver Bullet for quite a while without a kick in it, and, except for the switch not being 100% mechanical (This was before the Silver Bullet M), it was basically the same thing. I could tell you the moment that my battery dropped below 4 volts. Fresh battery in was very satisfying (except for late at night). 4.2 volts going through my atty. I was using Carto tanks at the time. A fully charged AW IMR 18650 would go for a couple hours before the vapor started dwindling down and I was using it more and more often to try and achieve the same results. Eventually I would give up and switch batteries, then bliss again for a while.

Now, if you're set on using or having a mechanical mod, I would take a serious look at Altsmoke's Silver Bullet M or their Omega. I also own the 14500 version of the Omega, it was my pocket mod at work for a loooong time. The Omega (Or the one that I have is called the Alpha) is a top-fire mod. You depress the top cap to make the circuit. On the Alpha, it was just about right for my thumb to be on the top and my pinky on the bottom...but if I used much bigger than a normal cartomizer, it didn't leave me any space to press the cap down. I believe that the Omega can house a kick, not sure on that though, I know that the Silver Bullet can. They even sell an extension sleeve for the silver bullet that will let you use an 18650 battery with the kick, instead of changing it to an 18500.

I have two mods that I'm currently enjoying the heck out of. Early this year I made the jump and bought a ProVari. This thing is my favorite mod that I've ever touched. Yes, the menu is a bit clumsy and outdated, since the device only has 1 button, but I've dropped it from my pickup to the asphalt several times and there are only a few small dings in it. It lives in my pocket by my keys and...nothing notable as far as scratching. I understand that these things are fairly hard to destroy. (Same with the Silver Bullet)

I also have an iTaste MVP that is pretty awesome. The bigger attys like the KFL or the Russian seem strange on it, since it has an ego threading though. Also, for a pocket mod, the MVP doesn't slide out of jeans very well, tends to hang up a bit.

So, my recommendations:

Mechanical: Silver Bullet M / Omega from Altsmoke.
Otherwise: ProVari.

As always, you can sometimes find a good used one on the classifieds for a decent price....but I rarely see a ProVari on there that lasts more than a few hours, unless it's grossly overpriced or a strange color.
