Mechanical mod help

A few months ago, I got a basic ego starter pack and eventually upgraded to an Innokin VTR with a Kanger protank 2 (w/aerotank base) so I could rebuild protank coils (great choice, works waaayyyyy better than the factory coils). Now, this is all fine and dandy at work, where something easy to use and durable is appreciated, but I recently decided to make another upgrade and get an rda and a mechanical mod for at home use to cloud chase and for the flavor. My question is, what exactly should I look for in a mechanical mod? I understand the difference between most RDAs, but mechanical mods just seem like they all do the same thing and just look different...what am I missing? Also, since I'm on a budget, I'll likely be going with clones, so are there some made better than others? The RDA I'm most interested in is the Magma, if that helps at all.

on mechs they all have the same principle so, the main things to look for in a mech is
the button the better the button the better overall of your mech experience.
the size that's up for you
voltage drop, the lower the better.

if you are looking for clones in the 18xxx department I would recomend (just from whar I have used) the brass gp paps and the ss nemesis
the paps has by far the best button that I've used

The metallic composition of the contacts, the quality of the switch and the locking ring, and of course aesthetics.

With the contacts you want to look at the conductivity and ultimately the electronegativity of the metals used.

If you're going to go with a clone, make sure whoever you buy it from lists the clone manufacturer on their site.

Good luck and have fun with mechanicals, but most importantly, please educate yourself on battery amp draw based on different resistances of builds. A member, Baditude, has a great post that shows various resistances and the continuous amperage required.

First thing to look for is Baditudes blog on battery safety. Battery safety is always #1. There are quite a few clone makers who make decent mods. My favorite right now is the Vapetech Pegasus. Its an all copper mod and bottom button with reverse threaded locking ring. It patina's quite quickly but it looks very nice! Other than that its all personal preference. Copper will be the most conductive (because nobody makes an all silver mod), and thus will usually have the least voltage drop. The most popular mods out there are the Stingrays and Nemesis'. I own one of each and I prefer my brass stingray over my SS nemesis. I feel that the stingray hits harder. If you want ideas for an RDA look at the magma, plumeveil or zenith v2. All 3 of them are amazing. The magma has excellent flavor and pretty good vapor. Unsure about the plumeveil right now because mine hasn't come in yet. Starting up will cost you a bit if you don't already have the necessary equipment. You will need some kanthal and organic cotton or rayon and most definitely an ohm meter (I don't trust the readers on my vtr or my sx350). I'd say you'll probably spend at least $100 for everything by the way. And since you're talking of cloud chasing I'd probably go with some 26 gauge kanthal. Can do about 6 wraps for a dual coil sitting at about 0.38 ohms.
