Hi,

I'm using a VV/VW PV at the moment and thinking of getting a mechanical mod next..

But, i understand that the resistance and firing volts/watts actually constitute to whether a vape is good or not.. if that's the case, how do we configure these settings on the mec mod? I know the mod couldnt be adjusted, so how do we ensure that our vape is constantly good on a mec mod??

And also what are the things that we need to look out for on a mec mod? will short circuit be an issue etc...

hope someone can show the light~ lol..

A "kick" is a great way to turn a mechanical mod into a regulated device. It basically turns it into a VW just like you have. It will be tough to find a constantly perfect vape with the mech alone as it produces at the start 4.2V and drops down to ~3.2V throughout the battery cycle. Find some sort of atomizer or cartomizer and put in our your VV device. Try it at 4.2V and then 3.2V. If you like them both and everywhere in between, you'll be in good shape!

Yea, heard quite abit of the term 'kick' in the review videos.. what exactly is a kick and how does it work?

And do we have to get different batteries for mec mod? like protected or imr? (though i have no idea what batt i'm using now except that it's a 18650) lol..

A kick is like a dimmer, u use it to control the amount of current so that it produce a different setting. Only thing is u have to take it out to adjust it each time u want to change the setting. Well, if u don't want any battery to explode in your face use the protected one. As why, i m still trying to determine it.

IMR batteries for mech mod.

If you aren't into rebuildables, then I'd stick with VV/VW. If you like to tinker, then mech mods are great. And, you will spend some money in getting mods, attys, wires and such. The fun is in the journey .... building something and liking/hating the results.

I learned a ton by watching youtube vidoes from Todd, Busardo, Scott Bonner and others.

I set up my mech with a igo l. made a .7ohm micro coil (think 6 wraps of 28ga on a 5/64 drill bit) and use panasonic ncr18650pd. This set up is great IMO. Every juice I have used taste great and this thing makes clouds.

things you need:
Battery wise AW IMR 18650 1600mah are suppose to be great for mech do to their safe chemistry and high amp limit. I like the panasonics I have they seem to last awhile and have a 10amp continues and 18amp burst rate. im around 6 or less amps with my set up, have used .4 ohm duals but dont see any advantage.

Get a multimeter to check your battery life and resistance of your RBA or RDA.

like said if you dont want to rebuild you should probably stay with a VV/VW mod for more options unless you want to kick the mech. if you dont want to kick it or have a vv then use a low resistance carto tank, they seem to fire good on mechs. Avoid protanks for mechs, they suck on mine.

Read up on mechs and be safe, after using them for two weeks im probably not going back to a VV mod. So happy with my current set up

Thanks guys for the great info!

i using a aga t2 atomizer now so i guess rebuildables are fine for me~

And since we are on atomizers, what's the significant performance difference between the RBAs & RDAs? Although i have not tried any RDAs yet, isn't it a little more troublesome having to keep the wick wet all the time? What's the candy that's luring everyone over despite the refilling issue..

And for Mech Mods, are kicks a must have?

I don't own a kick. If I wanted that, I just use the regulated PV.

For me, drippers are for home use to try out different juices. You just build it and try out a juice. If you don't like it then try out other juice. You can even mix the flavors by keeping the same wick. If you have cotton/micro coil setup, it's very easy to change out the wick while preserving the good coil setup. Also a lot easier to play around with dual coil setup and such.

oh..

does it means that the quality of your vape varies according to the battery life left in your battery without a kick??

I saw alot of reviews on micro coil too.. definitely something that i would like to try.. lol

the dripper just taste awesome to me, have had much experience with RBA's yet, plan on buying a RSST in the future. But anyways, 8 drops in the dripper last a good amount of time and teh rebuilding process is extremely simple on the dripper. I dont have a kick in mineand wont

I run my batterys from 4.2 down to 3.7 and the vape feels the same every hit, havnt tried going lower then that

the micros are awesome, this .7 ohm micro blasts out vapor and doesnt drain my batteries as fast as the .4 ohm dual set up that honestly didnt make clouds any bigger then this.

lol.. great pieces of info pal~

hmm.. i should start getting into drippers once i get my mod.. too bad low ohms doesn't work on vv/vw pvs..

you could run a dripper great on a vv/vw. make a 1.7ohm micro coil for it and crank the volts up. Watched a few guys on youtube do this and those things rip pretty hard.

just tried building a micro coil..

does everyone torch their coils? if yes, does their wire breaks off? cause mine does..

after great efforts and a few attempts, i managed to build a working coil but my ohm was 3.3... -_-'

anyway, what cotton are more recommended? i use sterile cotton from pharmacy and they seems to have this weird taste~ lol..

I torch mine but you gotta use 28 awg ... maybe 30. If using thin wires and if the wire has a "kink" in it, it can break while torching it - based on my experience (on 30 and 32 awg wires but never on 28 awg). You also have to move up and down the wire and not focus intense heat on one section.

I use pharmacy sterile cotton and don't notice the weird taste but I'm weird already. Some people boil and dry it before use ... something I'm too lazy to do (and I actually don't have working stove in my overpaid apartment) :)
