Mechanical passthrough?

I want to make a mechanical passthrough. I haven't been able to find a small switch that is even remotely durable, and I want to make it just a little bigger than cig-sized and ultra reliable so I think this is the way to go. Anyone done this before? Any ideas on the design?

um....passthrough means you have wires, wires means it is not mechanical. sorry to end your idea before it started

Aw crap. Well I was thinking more like wires to the device, then a mechanical switch. A switch won't fit. Ideas?

you can put a switch in the cord if you can't get a switch in the device itself.
