Looks like corrosion from battery venting to me but I'm not an expert. Do you vape while its plugged in and charging? Has it been dropped? Or maybe a pod was leaking juice into the mods internals? Those would be my guesses as to what caused that.

Has it been allowed to sit in direct sunlight for long periods of time (depending on where you live, 10-15 minutes is long enough)? Sun exposure is always an issue for batteries. If it isn't any of those then I have no idea. I have 3 of those mods and I've never had that happen. If you solve this mystery, please post and let us know what the cause was.

I'm pretty stumped. I live in an area that gets high sun exposure and I've accidentally left my mod sitting in my cars cup holder before, and when I came back it was really hot but it still didn't look anything like that. Maybe try contacting Vaporesso and see if they can't do anything for you?
I don't think that is Calcification. But it could be Potassium Hydroxide from an Out-Gassing Li-Ion Battery. What ever you do, Don't get that White Stuff on your Fingers and then Rub Your Eyes.
I would would switch to your Backup and Retire that Battery.

Try doing a Google Search for "cleaning corroded battery contacts".
Stuff like this...
Vinegar and or Pure Lemon Juice can work well. Just don't get that White Stuff in your Eyes. So Glove-Up and wear some Safety Glasses. Sun Glasses in a pinch
