Hi there, everyone! This is my very first post.

I am ordering a barebones basic Kr808 kit very soon, and I hope it works out for me. The more I read, the less I know.

Anyway, I'm not sure that a "pass-thru" will work with this model. Will it?

Also, um, what is a pass-thru anyway? I'm having visions of someone vaping while sitting on the floor next to an outlet, with an adapter of some sort connected from the wall to his or her e-cig. Please tell me I'm wrong!

Hello Stupafly and welcome to ECF. I have a KR808D-1 setup, and yes, it does work with a passthrough. The passthrough basically eliminates the need for a battery, but it does indeed tether you to some sort of power supply unit. Some folks plug their PT's into their computers, others use AC-to-USB wall converters or USB hubs. I have a power inverter in my truck that provides a USB connection, so I use mine primarily when I'm driving.

In general, the PT will provide more consistent current than a battery (because as a battery drains, the power output tends to reduce a bit) and when using a PT, many folks get improved vapor production. The downside of this, of course, is that you are indeed vaping with a coil of wire in the area. My son says it reminds him of using a hookah, which apparently is very popular around his college campus.

It does take a bit of getting used to, and I find myself holding my e-cig differently when I use the PT because it feels somewhat less natural to me to have a wire coming out of my hand. That being said, they are invaluable for those times when you are running low on battery power or haven't had the opportunity to recharge batteries. You plug it in, connect a cartomizer, and away you go.

Hope this helps. Post back with any other questions and someone will come along to provide some insight. Good Luck!

They do not double as a charger, or at least none that I am aware of do. See, you don't hook the battery into it at all. The battery is the "cigarette" looking portion of an e-cig and the "filter" part is the cartomizer and that is where the flavor / juice is stored and where the vapor is created. On a PT, you hook up only the cartomizer. The other really nice thing is that with the PT, the e-cig is very light. The batteries can seem a bit heavy, especially at first, but you get used to them quickly. The PT, however, is very light and I like that.

As far as where to get one, the vendor that you buy your KR808 will probably have them available. I purchased mine - and a starter kit, for that matter - from Vapor 4 Life (V4L) and couldn't be happier with their products or services. You have to figure out what is best for you, of course, but you'll find a great many V4L fans here. I'm one of them.

Also, I would recommend that even if you go with Automatic Batteries, consider getting a manual PT. I have tried both, and the consensus here seems to be that the manual is superior in both performance and longevity.

Something I didn't know until very recently - and something I wish someone had told me - is that if you're going to refill your own cartomizers with eliquid, you will probably have better luck and fewer hardware problems if you also go with manual batteries. As I understand it, the manual batteries are protected, and by that I mean they don't have the same problem with juice dripping down inside them that can happen with automatic batteries. If you are only going to use pre-filled cartos, then it probably won't matter which style battery you get. But, if you think you might want to refill your own, go with manual batteries. I have to order some myself today.

Hope this is helpful. Holler back with any other questions.

Dead on!!! HAHAHA, I still get looks 4 months in to my Vapor lifestyle. I use a PT whenever I can. At my desk via computer, in my truck via lighter jack to USB port and on my couch using an IPOD wall plug connected to a 3 foot USB extender then the PT fed up in-between the couch.

I am still trying to figure out the difference between the 15 differently labeled 510 models alone, not even moving to other models yet as personal devices, I will try someones if different then mine but currently have 4 different 510 models of different cost and see VERY LITTLE difference.
