A friend of mine had an issue with his joye ego burning the tip of the cart, has anyone had such an issue before? Are there any solutions to this issue?
Also we've both found that sometimes, even when our filler is completely saturated we get a kind of burning paper/ plastic taste which often overpowers the taste of our liquid. This seems to happen most when i use a pg based fluid (50/50). I noticed when using a thicker, more vg based liquid this happens much less often. ANy input would be appreciated, guys.

The burnt cart is usually because it is not lined up with the bridge of the atty properly. If you look at the at the cart, you will notice that it is elongated so it can fit properly over the bridge. If it is sitting on it lengthwise, it will melt the plastic. Not sure about the taste you're getting otherwise.

I know a lot of vapers here switched to cartomizers from carts, which would basically turn the eGo 3-piece into a 2-piece system. Personally, I drip, so I don't have the full experience of any heating problems with melting carts or anything. That's another option you could try. Just get a drip tip and it will put the liquid right onto the bridge of the atty and I've never had any diminished/weird/augmented tastes with my flavors.

It's not the result of the PG. I haven't vaped pure PG without flavoring, but I have done nebulizer treatments with a PG mist. No nasty taste there.

VG is thicker than PG though. Don't quote me on it, but this would lead me to believe that PG vaporizes more quickly. Perhaps the filler is drying out quicker with the PG base and causing that "burnt taste".

As trouble2k said, make sure the cart is aligned with the length of the bridge. I melted the end of plenty of carts in my early days of vaping by not paying attention to this. And no, PG itself will not give you a burning plastic taste, but once you've even slightly melted a cart, that taste will find its way into the filler material and linger very stubbornly.

This is one of the many reasons I do not use cartridges. Never have. I had five pre-filled ones that came with my first starter kit. I yanked the batting out, gave them a good rinse, and used them as disposable sanitary mouthpieces for whenever people wanted to try out my PV. I highly recommend switching to cartomizers. You can buy them pre-filled and simply toss them when they run dry. Or, even better and more economical, you can refill them several times over with the juice of your choosing and run the atty in them into the ground before throwing them away.

I mean, I personally see no advantages to cartridges other than being cheap. Cartomizers cost a bit more, but they hold more liquid and, unless you get one that's DOA, you don't have to do anything other than screw a pre-filled one onto your battery and vape away.

Also, make sure you aren't using a low resistance atomizer with cartridge tips. They will burn too hot and burn up your batting and plastic mouthpiece if you're not careful. Also, it could have been that your button was pressed when you didn't realize it and your atty was burning for awhile. Automatic batteries sometimes get stuck and will fire even if you're not taking a draw off the mouthpiece.

This is my experience experimenting with 100% PG and 100% VG juice....

If you overfill your cart, it can flood your atty and burn. Since PG is thinner, it is easier to overfill/flood using PG. So even though your cart is still full, the residual burnt juice in the atty can give you a lingering bad taste. Take the atty off and put a tissue over the top. Blow through the bottom and check for any brown liquid. Put it back on and see if that helps.

Third. I went to cartomizers as well to avoid all of that hassle.

Exactly. If I have to play around with teabags and fish tank filter material just to get a decent vape, then it's not worth the $4 less you pay for a 5-pack of cartridges versus the 5-pack of cartos. That and I can't use carts with my sweet, sweet LR atties.

I use the same one for about 3 to 4 days and then toss it. A 5 pack of cartos lasts me over two weeks. I consider it an even trade considering all the juice I lost trying to get the darn cartridges to work right.

Atomizers are good for dripping, but that's not practical for me in the car. Unfortunately, I spent ALOT of time in the car LOL.

The cart should be parallel with the bridge. If they are perpendicular, the sides of the cart will touch the bridge and melt/burn.

(||) - Bridge

(||) - Cart

With my drip tip, I only put a couple of drops in at a time. They wick immediately. I don't have to have anything other than the drip tip on and I do not get any fluid in my mouth.
