I can always remember BBQ's, swimming (my folks had a pool) and just celebrating a three day weekend!!!! Daddy would always BBQ something, and we'd have such a great time.

Since they are no longer on this earth, I decided to watch war films to the honor of our military heroes. I even learned a little history along with it. I watched Apocalypse Now.....I'd never seen it all the way through. How it got 4 stars, I'll never know. Then I watched Twelve O'Clock High....another 4 star movie, but I think it deserved a 3. I watched McArthur and found that very good, but it only got 3 1/2 stars.....so did Midway and the Longest Day. I watched them anyway. Today I watched the Dirty Dozen as I couldn't stay awake any longer last night. The AMC channel had them all on. I am free to sit and watch movies, because of these brave men. It was sobering and sombering. They gave their most precious gift....their lives, so we can be free to BBQ and swim with our families. Something to think about......the next you see a man or woman in uniform, thank them for their service to our country.:wub"

Amen L.... My Father was a purple heart WW2 War Veteran (Army) & my Husband is a Vietnam Veteran... (Marines). Were it not for what my Father did... (and all the other Fathers who served in WW2) we (and more than likely the World) would not be experiencing the freedoms we are today. While I'm certainly not an advocate for launching wars (for any reasons), I realize there are times when we must 'protect & defend' ourselves against foreign offenses.. so I'm extremely proud & honored to be the Grand-Daughter, Daughter & Wife of Men who served proudly, courageously and honorably to preserve the freedoms we pretty much take for granted.. :)

I know you are VERY proud of your military men, Sister Cuz. I've always heard 'Once a marine, always a marine.' Is that still the case in your household?:p

Let them know that I appreciate their service. If your daddy has passed, let him know the next time you visit his site. Thank you.
