I mixed my own menthol juice for the first time from what I think iread somewhere here ???
I filled a 15ml bottle half way with "crystals" then filled the rest of the bottle with propolyne glycol this doesnt seem as strong as what I have bought from vendors..... but i am sporting a cold at the moment so......

Is this weak/strong or the norm for others that mix there own
thx in advance

I used to do a lot of menthol, but the premix recipes are subjective - you're doing just the right thing... add a bit more until you find what hit's the spot.

Also, I found that adding mint flavors helped to round out the taste... spearmint and wintergreen especially. They are very strong so try a little at a time to see if it helps.

Menthol, like anything will only go so deep into PG. So if you keep adding to what you had made, there will be a breaking point where no more will disolve. You could keep adding a bit and waiting to see how it disolves, continue this process until it stops disolving. Pour off the liquid, leaving behind any undisolved menthol and you would have the highest concentration PG will carry.

Inorder to make it stronger then what PG can hold, you would need to disolve in PGA or a clear (no carmel) alchol, like vodka.

Having a cold can affect your perception on the flavoring, as well as the finished e-juice. So I would suggest making small batches, so you can adjust when your cold is gone as it may be super strong then hehe!

Hope that helps :)

With anything mixed for yourself its a matter of personal taste, so its hard to say just how much to put in.

Its best to find a way to measure, then you can experiment with how much you like and be able to repeat that amount everytime

In your next order if you put a note for a 1/32tsp spoon I can send it along for free and that may help you with measuring it out :)

I was pouring straight from the vial that had the menthol crystals and it just poured into, it's dissolving more now, it think if I add a little pg and nic it will make it will thin out the vg. I was mixing a 70/30 before and I think I had the same amount of crystals that I have in the 50/50... When I get off work today I'm gonna let it steep some more.. Gonna shale it up every hour while I'm at work too

Personally I prefer to make Menthol Drops with just the Menthol Crystals (powdered) in PG or PGA, then add the drops to my mixtures as the final step. The method that you're using may be difficult to recreate in the future if it turns out to your liking.

Here is the recipe that I use for menthol drops, it works quite well:

Prep: Crush menthol crystals into a fine powder using a mortal and pestle.

2.5ml of menthol powder
7.5ml of PGA

I like to use a 3 or 5ml syringe to measure the powder. Pull the plunger out and use a funnel to add 2.5ml of menthol powder. Pour the measured powder through the funnel into an empty 10ml bottle. Add 7.5ml of PGA into the bottle with the menthol powder, cap the bottle and let it rest overnight.

If the crystals are not fully dissolved in the morning, you can put the bottle into a ziplock bag and submerge it into a cup of hot water and let it sit in there for a few minutes. Take the bottle out and shake it good. Allow it to return to room temperature. Once it returns to room temperature the crystals should be fully dissolved. If not, repeat the process again with the hot water bath.

To add a nice menthol flavor to your mixtures, add 1 drop per ml of the finished menthol drops.
