Natural Menthol is usually an aromatic oil, a secondary alcohol, It can be purified to a waxy crystalline form that melts at slightly above room temperature ( 36 C ish)...The crystals in that e-bay auction don't look all that waxy to me ... they seem rather sharp and sugary? The colour is about right tho... I would be contacting the seller , and asking if the menthol for sale is actually pure menthol in crystalline form, or is a menthol infused crystals of some other origin... I would think the price is rather cheap for a pure menthol distillation crystal? I could be very wrong LOL

My money would be that it is a base of some sort that has had pure menthol added and then been crystallised?
It takes an AWFUL lot of plant matter to produce the oil, and the crystals are an even more pure form, I would think if this were a natural menthol of 100% purity you would be looking at a fairly higher investment?
In short , I dont know if they are or not, but I would expect they are are not... a teller in this case is that menthol is only slightly soluble in water (less than 0.04 % at 20C ), if added to hot water , these crystals would not so much dissolve , but more likely reform into oilish drops on the surface.... if the water is near to boiling it will evaporate .. Caution Menthol is actually flammable and has a flash point of less than 100 deg C

I haven't used them in a while - Steve's premium menthol has been keeping me happy (usually)

Some people would put it directly in the microwave - but I used to warm up some water in the microwave (coffee/tea hot, not boiling - don't want to melt the plastic), then put the bottle with the eliquid/glycerine and menthol crystals in the water and let it sit for a little while (10-20 secs to a min depending on how much eliquid). Sometimes I would use dixie cups so I could stir it with a toothpick and make sure the crystals were dissolved/melted.

Just remember that a little goes a VERY LONG way. Start off with a SMALL/TINY crystal (1cm to half an inch OR LESS) with 10ml and go from there - adjusting to your own taste

If you buy them off ebay - 1 to 2oz is like a lifetime supply

so, put the e juice and a crystal together into a container. place container into the hot water. stir and then hey presto......menthol juice! is that correct?

yes, that's what I do

does/should the crystal melt into the e juice or does it stay as a lump?

The crystals melt/dissolve. No lumps

i just microwave it for 5-10 seconds or so mate, and repeat if necessary...its less hassle...and the crystal should melt into the juice...

actually i just make a 20 ml bottle of glycerine and menthol crystal mix, rather than adding the crystal straight into eliquid...then you have the strength of menthol you like, and can add to whatever eliquid you want...or use it as a zero nic menthol...

and you should be able to get menthol crystals from many chemists...thats where i get mine...just ask at the counter...
