I want to order the Menthol samplers and I'd like the strength to replicate my menthol analogs. I know everyone says I shouldn't do this, but as tasty as these food flavors I have are, they just aren't hitting the spot (yet). I'm sure chasing a vaping session with an analog every time isn't good for me.

I smoke Marlboro Menthol Lights. I was thinking of getting the 18mg ones. What do you guys think? Too strong? Not strong enough? I could really use some input. Thanks a bunch!

I smoked a pack a day of Salem Menthol Light 100's... I vape using 11mg or 18mg. The menthol samplers I ordered in 18mg. 18mgs work well for me when I have that feeling of I really need a cig. If you find they are to strong but like one of the flavors just cut the mgs down when you order the next box or juice.

What mgs are you vaping now since you say you still need a cig after vaping?

How many cartos are you using per day? If you smoked a pack of your brand per day, you were getting about 10mg of nicotine (.5 per cig). A formula that worked for me was to use 2.5 times that amount in the e-cig, or 25mg in your case, which would work out to roughly 1 24mg carto or 2 11mg cartos per day. 18's are right in the middle, and might be a good place to start. I wasn't a menthol smoker, but tried a sample on a whim and found that I liked it, and that vaping menthol satisfied me more than other flavors, even at lower mg levels.

It took me 4 days to put down the analogs when I started. I decided to have a cig only when I really needed one, which was only a few times a day - the longer I could put off that first one, the easier it became. The 4th day I never got around to lighting up. Expect some mild cravings for the first couple of weeks, as there are other substances you're withdrawing from. If you can get past them, it'll be a breeze. And if you can't, there are other alternatives like snus and dissolvables that some folks find very useful.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful responses. It looks like most of you recommend 18mg as a good starting point, so that's what I'll be ordering. I just didn't want to order anything too strong, since I smoke lights. I've tried full flavor menthol before but it was way too harsh for me. The carts I have right now are pretty much all 18mg, and like I said, they're fine, but I miss that cool menthol hit I'm so used to. Baby steps...

Well I tried 11mg at first, a cig is 1.1mg and in a carto 11mg=1.1mg so I figured that would be perfect, I was wrong, I went up to 36, figured for my heavy cigs I smoked that would be great. Wrong again too strong, so I tried 24 and am perfect there, if it is too strong do not give up, just go a step lower, to 12 I think is a next step down, not to sure.

I, too smoked MML and am looking for the same...let me know if u find it... :)
Well debb, I have both menthol sampler packs in 18mg on their way, so I'll definitely let you know which flavor I liked the most. I just read somewhere that menthol smokers have a harder time kicking the habit; even though that's a bit discouraging, at least now I know why this transition isn't easy for me. I need my menthol fix!! :p

It does depends on how many analogs you were using moreso than whether they were lights or not. How fast an analog burns depends on how much extra junk they add to them so the faster they burn, the more 'you' would have smoked, depending how long you could go in between before having an all out nicotine fit.

I smoked every brand under the sun, moon, rain, snow, etc. & was at slightly over 2 pks/day chain smoking.

You're going to want to try all the menthol flavs to be sure but there's a general agreement most of us around have reached - NOTHING is a good as SMILIN SPECIAL MENTHOL.

I started at 18 - not enough. 24 - still not enough. 36 hits the spot for me but I still can't stop the frequency of vaping w/ only menthol. I also vape WOW Peppermint @24mg (love the Classic Caramel Mocha Frapp @ 24 but think that one has to go- anything too-too close to real food tastes and I get suspended in a vaping altitude zone I don't like - the CCMF is also very thick so it makes me go through more blanks than any other flav I've tried as an all day vape) WowBoy to me is great - sort of minty, pronounced chocolate with a hint of tobacco for when I feel like I'm going to cave and a lighter juice than CCMF. Some of what you experience depends on your carto choice and if you vape on a battery or PT - all but the menthol changes slightly in flavor and/or vapor production based on how you vape it. This is why imo, the opposite it true about menthol analog 'quitters' - It's easier to tell where you're at because for some reason, menthol is a familiar taste. It made quitting easier for me. The other flavs + an 8mg strawberry at night, which is totally relaxing (in a coolcart) makes my all day vape less. I can probably go through 3 carts/day but I can't get through 1 full menthol cart even I vape nothing else BECAUSE it's so strong - If I don't put it down, I might feel a little sick. iow, with all flavs and mgs considered I'm far from vaping 36/day and closer to 22, still less than (and none of the junk in) analogs.

You'll find your comfort and figure out what to do from there. Until then, just enjoy the journey.

And pianoguy, don't say 'can't' cause I don't fight w/ ya or anyone else but you advised snus on a vaping help forum. I don't care what anyone says - every ad in and out of stores for it, says it causes mouth cancer - no mights or maybes like on packs of analogs - flat out "This product is known to cause mouth cancer". This isn't Sweden or a snus group. (I'm so sick of this conversatiion) If people told you can't it would be harder so don't say what you and everyone else doesn't and won't know until RWG goes through all the menthol testers to believe it. (Nuport is not bad but not close to SMILIN SPECIAL)

Vaping is a safest choice you could make. Big deal if you like menthol - makes it easier to switch to a chewing gum to try a quit gum, which is an alternative to a safe vaping product. You won't need to though if you keep giving yourself a chance.

Put tobacco road/alley/gutter behind you because you'll quit with V4L and everyone here's help, including pianoguy when he's not getting off topic. Don't give up and you'll do it in a day or a month but you will never want to touch another analog again.

Welcome aboard!

Don't get discouraged. Everyone has their "Menthol" taste they are looking for... I have tried both sampler packs (I preferred Sampler 2 but that's just me) & a few other menthol flavors. I think I found what I was looking for so I ordered a few boxes of the couple that I think might work for me when I am having that feeling of .... I could really go for a cig. Hoping I can narrow it down to the one.

Although.... I am still looking for a really strong ICY type of menthol/mint just for those times that I want a strong icy mint kinda taste ...

Who knows... my tastes keep changing all the time... Just have fun with it and take it day by day!

Well I guess I gotta say this now. I gotta: I'm a menthol junkie and I don't really care for Smilin'. :::ducks:::

Menthol is the best in my book. Smilin I can't count as a menthol because it's too minty.

haha! you're ducking? It's cool. As long as you're vaping!!! I don't see it as a flav contest though I'm curious (I didn't like SSM at the very first) have you tried dropping a few drops in ur fav tobacco flav? If not, you might want to to try it. To me anyway, it isn't too strong on the mint/menthol and remarkably close to a menthol analog. (I stopped doing that w/samples to keep another step away from analogs but, if you're not set, pm me - I have a 24mg Parliment somewhere I'll just give you so you can try it out)

Hockey's my game, chipped tooth to prove it, and the Wings are my team. Good to see another fan here. But more important, I think you decided wisely to start vaping with 18mg. Some then go up, some go down, but that's a good place to begin. I also think the samplers were the way to go. Taste prefs are all over the place.

I'm a big fan of V4L's menths, but you should be aware of the strange twist that many of us have noticed in the vaping world: former menth smokers often don't like vaping menths. And former non-menth smokers (like me) often like vaping menths. Don't know why, but it's a wacky pattern we see here and laugh about. Just want you to be aware of it in case vaping menths ain't your thing. Good luck. Go Wings.

I was pack a day Marl Menthol Light 100s and easily kicked the habit the day my 8mg vanilla showed up. I also had ordered 8mg nuports, but they were too harsh for me to vape consistently.

The occasions when I do get a nic craving, I've got a couple 24mg carts that I take a few puffs from and switch back to my 8mg cartos.. Happens about once a week.

Hey jeffree,

Hate to agree with you that former menth smokers don't like to vape menth, I for some odd reason love it lol.

I know you and I agree on most statements but my friends that are menth smokers love the Smilin also.

Vape on,
Kevin
