So my Wotofo Profile came in the mail today (seems like a lot of people have been picking them up lately). It's a nice little atomizer, and while I enjoy it a lot right now, it lacks in the heat department. Flavor is good, airflow is good, clouds are good, but it's just a bit too cool for my tastes. The obvious solution would be upping the wattage, but I'm already at the max recommended of 65w (where, on dual claptons I would be 100w minimum).

Is there a reason the recommended wattage is 45-65w? What happens if I go over? Are there other coils that will go up significantly higher? The light searching I've done so far doesn't make it look like it.

Thanks for the help!

Are you meaning that the KA1 mesh strips that came with the Profile have a 45W-65W max op range, or that is just a guide to a common op range for flavor? The battery and coil value used determine what the max safe op wattage is. If they fit in the clamps the Profile can mount Claptons as well.

I have 9 Profile Mesh rda's being used daily/nightly on 18650 mech squonk, 18650 dual parallel mech squonk and 20X700 regulated squonk mods. Most are ran at about 40W-70W depending on gear used and the joose. But some of them are ran at about 100W.

The KA1 strips that came with them are about .18Ω in a Profile. OFRF nexMesh KA1 strips for the Profile are also offered from vendors that are .12Ω in them. And you can 'roll your own' with mesh bought from other sources. I have Vandy Vape roll SS & Ni80 mesh and SS 400x400 SS mesh sheet that I can custom cut for the Profiles (and DMP's and VVM's).

The heat generated by mesh does not scale in a similar fashion as a typical coil. Its low mass, large surface area is more influenced by the air flow and juice saturation. Resistance has nothing to do with it. You can raise the power and close down the air flow, but it will not get that much hotter. Just keep in mind that by doing so, you also vaporize juice more quickly so keep an eye on your wicks. Dry burns with a coil is not nice….dry burns with mesh is brutal!

I’ve run the Wotofo mesh as high as ~80 – 85 watts on an unregulated device. But subjectively I feel they start to lose flavour going above 70 – 75 watts. The aftermarket OFRF Kanthal mesh has a little more mass so it can handle a little more power. I’ve had mine as high as ~ 100 watts but much prefer it at lower wattages.

Only other mesh I have tried was the Vandy Vape SS316 200 mesh. Cut to the same dimensions as the Wotofo strips, I subjectively felt this operates best between 40 and 50 watts.

Like @Spydro I’m a bit of a fan of the Profile – own 7 of them that are spread out across both regulated and unregulated devices that are used in wattage and in temp control when using the SS mesh. But my preference is the OFRF mesh at around 55 to 60 watts.
