Hi and welcome to the forum

Please tell us what model you are using - it makes diagnosing easier for some things. This seems to be a universal issue, though, so I'll give it a try.
I had the exact same problem. In fact, I got rid of my first PV after a couple of days because of it. I was a noob and expected perfection right out of the box. But I have gotten that same taste from other PVs occasionally. I am so glad someone described it the exact same way. To me it tasted like foil, or maybe burning electronics. Good to know I wasn't imagining it.
It could be one of a couple of things. First off is the disgusting primer they put on some atties for shipping. They say it is just PG, but PG does not taste that bad! Some people just vape on it until it goes away - but they have a stronger stomache than I do. I blew my atties out from the batt end, soaked my them in Everclear for about half an hour, rinsed them in boiling bottled water, blew them out again, and let them dry on a paper towel. Then I reprimed them with plain VG. Dry attied won't wick and taste horrible.
That brings me to the second thing - never let atties get dry! With the smaller models like a Blu, Sidesho, M series - you have a relitively small cart that can go dry very quickly. Especially with the stock carts - some of them don't wick well, and your atty won't be getting fluid even it the cart looks full.
The third thing is have more patience than I did. Eventually, it will just go away - or maybe we aquire a taste for it LOL
Good luck,
~A
