I made my first wick and coil for my RSST last night. I used 400 mesh and 32 kanthal. The coil is reading 1.6Ω and I'm getting decent vapor but I'm getting a slight metallic taste. I oxidized the wick, dabbed some juice on it and lit it with a lighter before I wrapped the coil. Is the metallic taste normal for a genesis style atomizer? Did I do something wrong/forget something? I've been through one whole tank so far with no change in flavor. How long does it take to "break in"?

Did you flame the wire before wrapping it? Fresh wire can taste ganky if you don't anneal it.

Apart from that your coil looks perfect, so it's not a floating coil or anything. SS can take a day to taste as good as it can get, but I've never had a fresh wick taste outright metallic (apart from when I forgot to anneal the wire once).

Thanks for the reply! That could be it. I didn't know I had to do that but it totally makes sense.
