Metallic taste

Hi guys I have some rda's such as the omega clone and the cartel v2 clone. I am having a problem where I am getting not a burnt taste but rather a metal taste.. when you inhale it just reminds you of machinery...production... engine... things like that.. it tastes horrible. I use an mvp 2 and learned here to go over 1.5 ohms which I do now and I get this funky taste. I tried 28g kanthal and I thought it was bad kanthal so I had some 32g kanthal and still the same problem. I even tried different resistances higher than 1.5 ohms but also no help. I then tried sub ohming at around .5 ohms with 26g kanthal with a panzer with a 20a battery and the same problem. No matter what build I do or whatever unit I use a get this nasty taste and I dont understand why. I never got this taste before and it happened all of a sudden and Ive been rebuilding for a couple of months now. IT IS REALLY WEIRD AND IT IS REALLLLLLY PISSING ME OFF!!!! I WOULD REALLY LOVE! IF SOMEONE COULD HELP BECAUSE I REALLY DO ENJOY vaping AND I just got into sub ohming like the other day and i just got my panzer and it sucks because this dam funky taste. I even dry burn the coil-Nothing... I fire it with a torch-NOTHING..
what do you guys think and or suggest

What kind of drip tip? I use to use aluminum anodized drip trips till I was getting a metallic taste. I learned from a friend the some liquids can eat away at the tip over time and give and off taste. So I switch all mine to Delrin drip tips and a nice side benefit is that it cooled down the vape a little bit as well.

I find a slight 'metallicky' taste when my nicotine content in my juices is a bit high, almost a peppery metallic taste, try cutting your juice with a bit of 0mg PG/VG and see if that helps

i dont use any nicotine in my juice so id think its that... also for the drip tip responsive i conducted an experiment... i fired it without the body and drip tip so basically you can see the cotton and coils as if you were rebuilding it and just by smelling the vapor and inhaling it from the air i still smell the horrible metal taste and taste it..

Try taking it apart and cleaning it with warm water, dish washing soap, and a toothbrush. My zenith v2 clone had that metallic taste until I did that

Any chance the tools you're making your coils with got something on them that's being transferred to the coils when you make them? If it's not your drip tip , definitely wash EVERYTHING, all tools, RDA, all of it.

Thats what I did because I thought it maybe had to be the rda itself and possibly the tools so I washed both of them with warm water and soap and still the same problem.. ... I even torched my screwdriver where I make the coil... I dont understand why I never had this problem with the same setup such as rda's and tools but all of a sudden... something doesnt make sense!

It sounds like your wick is not thick enough. Make sure your wick is somewhat snug in your coils. I had the same problem one time and noticed that my cotton wasn't filling the coil snug enough. I put some thicker cotton in the coil and the problem was gone.

I had the same problem, except I have not advanced to building. I have had this experience with protank 2, mini protank 2, aerotank. so I bought some plastic vase looking tips and problem solved. But I do get a metallic taste from certain juice, even with the plastic tips. Not as pronounced as I did with the stainless tips. Plastic,Delrin, does help alot. I machine alot of delrin on lath and milling machine, going to make some tips ONE DAY!!! I got to many hobbies and not enough time.

OK i will try cleaning my rda's again with warm water and soap and a toothbrush... do you think I should boil it..

the thing i dont understand is that the coil does not even touch the rda as it floats in the air grounded by the screws... so why would the rda be the problem if it does not even touch the coil... ahhh maybe because the cotton touches the rda...

so after the cleaning lets see how it goes... I even just boiled some cotton because before I never boiled cotton so maybe that could help

what kind of cotton are u using?

I picked up a cheap ultrasonic cleaner off of amazon and everything gets broken down and put in there for a couple of cycles before first use.

I was getting a nasty taste on each new coil that would disappear after a while, it turned out to be the cotton wool I was using, I'd bought it from a local B&M and it was advertised as organic but still ... kinda metallic off taste. I boiled the cotton in distilled water, drained and boiled again then let it dry and I've had no problems since. Might be worth a shot.
