Hey all, just a quick question/discussion topic here. Hoping to shed a little light, maybe make this easier for those of us that don't have wire welders (yet).

There's the first obvious one: The twist/wrap method. Works great, but can make for some real beefy joins. It's hard (nigh impossible) for me to make a NR/R/NR coil that fits in my Diver using this method, though if anyone can maybe post some tips it would be great.

The other one I saw might be a little less beefy, and it was seen here, on the Diver build video by Atmistique and VapinGreek: The Diver Rebuildable Atomizer for Tanks - YouTube

I'm very curious about this method, but I can't seem to see how it's done. Does anyone have any experience using that method? It seems to be much smaller, and a very solid join, and it would be intriguing to see a little more detail, as the video isn't great at that point. Either that, or I'm not seeing it. Maybe a more seasoned rba user can shine some light.

spark welding may be your clue.

I know I used the reef-knot on my killer-clone perfectly well. Doesn't seem strong enough in my term-c, so I twist.

I know, I know, I need to get a welder, I just need to find one that's available and at an acceptable price.

And is that knot called the Reef Knot? I can easily look it up if that's what it is. Would love to get this Diver working, was kinda an impulse purchase I did before I remembered that my Twist/Wrap coils are ugly as sin.

Here's the close up version, video made by the same people as far as I can tell. I've been using this for my Divers. Works pretty good and for me, less hassle than the twist method. But I think nothing beats a welder

I ordered these Kanthal Wire Coils, 50 Pack, in 1.7 and 2.5 to tie me over until I get a welder. I figured, I can double up on the 2.5 to hit my sweet spot @ 1.2-1.3, dual coil, single wick if you will. Might help genesis noobs too with the top post hotleg, or recoiling Evods w/o burned rubber taste, so many applications....

But yeah, I'm still waiting for my welder...

Where did you get your welder? I've yet to buy one, but I'm ready to pull the trigger.

I ordered some of these and a RDA from fasttech to give it a go. I have never built coils but I am fairly familar with the process. Can these NR-R-NR wires be used to just wrap up a coil like normal? Really confused about their application.

They're meant to be used where the terminations of your wire is "far" from the actual heating coil. Like an Ody, Ithaka, Diver, Killer, etc. If you have a device like the Rose, Kayfun, Drippers; these typically don't require NR-R-NR coils as the terminals are much closer to the heating coil.

NR-R-NR is the best thing for everything. I've got the Ithaka and built the little simple welder. And loved it so much then started using NR-R-NR method for everything. No more "Hot Legs" in any of my Genesis Atties. Specially when I'm using Flat Kanthal Ribbon. The non resistant leads are so much easier to trap under the screw and you don't care about the Leigh of it, plus non resistant wire makes much better contact with your post. You know what your resistance is going to be before you wrap your coil - how cool is that? All 100% of your Heating element is in full contact with your wick - 100% Efficiency. Here are some examples that I built using NR-R-NR Flat Ribbon and I love it.
