Just wanted everyone's thoughts on micro vs macro coils. I prefer macro, they are easier to build, easier to wick and hold more juice IMO. I can get 5-7 hits before dripping. With micros I can only get a max of 4 hits before needing to drip.
You might want define your use of micro (1.5mm ID and smaller) and macro (greater than 3mm ID)

Nano- anything wrapped on something1/16 drill bit and smaller (Smaller than 1.5mm)
Micro- higher than 1/16 bit and smaller than 1/8 bit (1.5mm - 3mm)
Macro- 1/8 bit and up. (3mm and up)

This is how I learned it. My happy range is 2mm in a squonking setup. 2.5mm in everything else.
So I prefer micro coils. Well technically 1/8" is 3.175mm or so, but 3mm is a good place to round to.

I have tried all size coils over the years and to be honest , i don't even refer to them as macro or micro , as long as they seem to be the appropriate size for what topper i'm using and it vapes well thats all that matters to me.

I have always wrapped coils from mandrels in the 1/16 to about 5/32 range , if someone wants to refer to it as a macro or micro or just a coil thats A OK with me, i never lose sleep over it .

I have a coiling jig or 2 somewhere in the bottom of a box. I actually use a q-tip stick a lot for my RTA's. Lol! It's about 2mm, so I guess that's a micro? In my drippers I tend to use a 1/4" pop rivet as a jig... if it wil fit. If not, I dig out the ol' coiler and make them 3mm. Those 3 sizes work well for me and I've got my eyes trained for how much cotton to cut for them.

I build 3 mm diameter coils from 28 gauge kanthal, so I guess this is a micro coil. I like the "larger" diameter simply because its easier to wick with cotton. I've never made anything larger than 3 mm because I've never had a mandril that large.
