What's up guys. So I have been using 32 gauge for my micro coils, and have been pretty happy and all. I've been getting very decent vapor, taste, and 'ok' TH. As a lot of you guys know though, good ain't never good enough. I decided to try 30 gauge, and to be honest, I think I was happier with 32 gauge.

I must be doing something wrong because I've had a lot of guys say that 30 gauge would be more ideal for vapor production. I am using an Igo L with a 1/16 air hole, on my MVP, and like I said have been rocking micros using 32 for a few weeks and have been pleased.

It just seems that now I am getting killer heat and throat hit, but just so so on the vapor production. Should it take a while to 'break in?' as most of my 32 gauge wraps were rocking after only a few minutes. I took a pic of the coil I made about a half hour ago. Not the best but I don't feel that it's sloppy enough to hurt performance. No hot spots or anything, and it rings out @ 1.8 - 1.9 ohms. If you guys can think of anything I need to do please let me know. Thanks.

Imo they perform better, when all the coils are touching...
no gaps anywhere.

So easiest way to achieve this, would be too take out cotton, pulse-fire the coil
untill it glows orange all the way, release the fire button and immediately pinch
together with some pliers. Do this a couple of times and you should end up with a nice
micro-coil. Credits go to Super-X-Drifter.

I prefer 28 gauge kanthal btw.

That is a lot of cotton.....too much can restrict the juice absorption and decrease vapor production. With cotton, less is more.

Tight coils are a must. This is 30 gauge 1.5 ohm coil. Pure nirvana...... and yes I know that my coil is loose, it was the very first one I ever wrapped....

From the looks of it, your coils could stand to be tighter to even out the heat. My guess is that you have at least two hot spots.

If it were me, I'd pull the wick, heat cycle to temper the kanthal, and use tweezers to tighten the loops on the cooling cycle.

I'd also try shorter legs, maybe by 2mm or so.

I use 30ga on just about every build. Good balance of resistance and heating surface. Works great on my nano and micro coils.

That looks like the set up I'm using. But I can't get the wraps to touch, which is what see when I look at other micro coils.

As mentioned earlier, dry fire it with no cotton until it glows red. Let go of the firing button and squeeze the coil together with pliers. Repeat until your coil is tight.

Squeezing the wraps would probably help, get them as close as possible, less cotton, it looks like your wick might be choking a bit. Another thing to make sure of, is to get your coil aligned with your air hole, I like mine dead center vertically and horizontally, and if you don't mind long legs you can try getting the coil as close to the outer rim as possible.

Thanks guys. I definitely neaten'd up the coil with the recommendation from Bones. Thanks man. I rewicked using less cotton, and pryed the coil to the point where I can almost see it through the air hole. It just seems that the vapor still isn't quite as dense as it has been. Really strange but I'll keep trying things. Thanks for the replies. Here's a pick of what it looks like now.

You still have long cotton tails wrapped around the back. I roll the cotton into a very small diameter that slides freely inside the coil. Then I clip each end where they touch the sides of the RBA. The pic to the left, under my name shows the vapor I am pulling.

How does your wick soak juice from the bottom of the deck?
