Microcoil vs 3 or 4 wrap?

So currently I am using a 10 wrap 26 Gauge Micro...

On One Hand:
*I must admit it looks beautiful... and it is extremely sexy...
*it rips super hard and creates some pretty decent flavor most of the time.
*It is super easy to change the cotton in the rba.

On the Other Hand:
*It is a much colder Vape than the normal wrap.
*It doesn't seem to pack the same "punch".
*I am undecided if the flavor is quite the same.

Generally when not wrapping a micro I usually wrap around .26-.30 using:
*26 Gauge Kanthol 4 wrap on 2mm Silica
*28 Gauge Kanthol 3 Wrap on 2mm Silica
*28 Gauge Kanthol Braided 4 wrap on 2mm Silica

I am curious as to your thoughts. I live in the middle of nowhere and the closest Vape shop is literally 500 miles away... So I don't get to talk to many people about this. Also any suggestions you all have I would LOVE to hear!!!!!

My current setup
*Bronze Turtleship v2
*Patriot rba
*18490
*Vaporblaze Buttacup 6mg

What sort of thoughts are you looking for? Which you should use, why the difference, something else?

Basically anything really! Why you prefer one over the other. I am new to this whole thing and am so overwhelmed and excited that I want to try everything NOW! Also what the basic "goal" of both is? I know obviously it's to Vape, but why the difference?

I am going to assume you are versed in battery safety since you are sub-ohming. I can't really say anything about coils below 1.2ish, don't have much experience with it. I usually run 1.2-2.0. I like micro coils better because I just find them easier. I have tried traditional coils all sorts of way, hand wrapping, wrapping on a 4x40 machine screw, and I always seem to get a wide range of resistances even though I am really trying to do the same thing over and over again.

One thought on temperature and throat hit. You might be getting cooler rips with less throat hit when using a micro coil because it's smaller, as in the cotton is taking up less real estate than doubled over 3mm silica wick or whatever your using on your hand wrap, and you are getting more airflow over the coil as you inhale, and that's cooling it off. Try reducing the airflow control if you can on the patriot, that might give you more heat and "punch". Total guess on my part.

Yeah, I have done my battery research and know enough to know the dangers about the Sub.

As to your second point... Is there alternatives to the cotton in a micro? I guess in theory anything could be used? I was told to use cotton last time I was visiting Los Angeles. Once in a pinch I threw my Silica in my Micro because that's all I had. But are you having better luck with other mats?

these types of threads are the ones that worry me. Sub-ohm vaping is a skill that not everyone does well. There are many variables and a lot of bad info on what batteries you should be looking for. first off let me just state that at your ohm level you will be best off with the following batteries and thats pushing the amp limits of the battery. sony 18650 1600mah us18650vtc3, mnke 18650's 1500mah's, aw imr 18650 1600mah, or the samsung inr18650 2000 mah. anything else your increasing your failure rate dramatically. the 2 most popular 18490's are rated safe above .5ohm on the efest battery and .3 on the aw imr's.

now that I have mentioned that since your new to this. its always best to go with what you feel most comfortable with. I personally feel the most comfortable with a micro coil around .8ohm but do some regular ones around .4-.5 for when I want to really fog up the room. Been rebuilding for a while now and just started sub-ohming about 2 months ago.

Micro type coils seem to distribute heat more even and seem less likely to develop hot spot.
I get warm vape w/ large chamber 22mm AGA-T2 microish 3/32" twisted 30 GA wire coil up to 1.7 ohms.
Even warmer vapor in smaller chamber RTA using similar microish coil.
My warm vapor RTAs have 1 mm to about 1.2 mm air hole.
I place coil as suggested by ECF member close as possible to air hole.
Has longer legs yet no hot leg problems.

Great advice. Not to thread jack but I found a bridgless 510 atomizer today. $7.46 with tax though. Beggars can't be choosers.
