Greetings ECF,
I will soon be departing from LAX to DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth) Texas.
Of course, I want to bring my vape gear. Have any of you had any experiences in flying with your vapes?
I want to bring maybe a mod and a dripper or kayfun, batteries, charger, and juice. Any tips/tricks/info?
Anything would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone!

Carry everything in your carry on. If you have loose batteries, make sure they are contained in cases or other means. All your bottles of liquids put in a quart size zip loc bag and show them at the security checkpoint. Empty your tanks or they will leak from the pressure changes. TSA is well aware of this type of gear so they won't give you a hassle. I keep one full tank for stealth vaping in the airports I've visited. Vaping in the air has pretty high risks involved so it is not recommended, setting off a smoke detector on an airplane could have pretty extreme consequences so proceed with caution.

The thread title suggests vaping while in flight. Those blankets they give out onboard come in handy, though, I've yet to use one. ;)

As far as I know, there are not any federal bans on in flight vaping. That would rule out any interaction with a marshall. I believe the most that would happen is some sort of fine by the airlines, though, I've never heard of this happening.

Rule of thumb is to be stealth, if no one sees vapor, then there isn't any. I would not suggest using a mech mod and dripper.

    DFW? Eww.

There was the only time I ever got hassled. The bartender at one of the watering holes had a problem.

If you get caught vaping while in the air expect to be whisked away by a security team or marshall when you land. Of the federal kind.

    Not worth the risk.

And if people start getting caught doing it on planes I bet they would ban them in carry on bags, Actually I'm surprised they allow them now.

Well, I do not wish to vape on the plane for the safety of myself and other passengers. The thread title was for attention. Thanks for the replies everyone!
Hopefully I make it to Texas with all of my vape gear. So just take everything on my carry on (mod/batts in cases/juice/charger, etc.)? Is there a limit on the size of the juice bottle (are 30mls okay?)
Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you to those that have replied!

30ml bottles are fine. Anything less than 3oz. I flew in/out of DFW twice this year with a large stash of vape gear and batteries with no issues.

ETA: You can put additional juice in your checked baggage as well as mods with no batteries, however batteries need to be in your carry on baggage.

as far as eliquid is concerned it's treated as part of your overall liquid limit and is subject to the same rules. Dunno what the mL limits are but they do all need to be together in a plastic ziploc.

Sorry but you are wrong... vaping or use of an electronic cigarette on any US commercial air flight is strictly prohibited. It carries the same fines as lighting up a cigarette in flight... $2200 in the cabin and $3200 in the restroom.

There was an incident in the last month where a US flight was diverted and made an emergency landing because some fool set off the smoke detector in the plane's restroom while vaping. This is no trivial matter to the airlines, air marshals and TSA.

Don't vape in flight... pick up some nicotine gum/lozenges/patches if you can't hold out in the air.

I would like to see your documentation on this. A USA Today article from about 2 months ago states that 3 years ago transportation officials recommended banning ecigs in flight but has yet to be finalized. Have they finalized this?

It goes on to state that airlines allow them to be brought on the plane but generally prohibit their use. Nowhere does it say anything about a fine or penalty. This was all because of a small fire due to one in cargo I believe.

I take an SR92 helicopter ( holds 19 passengers and 2 pilots ) back and forth to my assignments on offshore rigs and platforms.

They tell you not to use electronic devices, but everyone takes pictures, listens to music and plays games.

So yeah... I have slipped out the MVP and a nautilus mini a few times... its not my normal set up for vaping, but perfect for a little stealth vape.

Fire marshal concerned over e-cigs on planes

You Can't Smoke E-Cigarettes In Planes - Business Insider

Travel Blawg | GUIDE: Are You Allowed To Smoke E-Cigarettes On A Plane?

Vaping while flying can have the same penalties as smoking on a plane (which are the 1,000s of dollars) What will happen? I don't know. Have some respect in a closed in space though. As we have the right to breathe in nicotine if we want.... other have the right not to be exposed to our exhale.
