Mind the gap...or tell me why I need a tank

Just got my lovely purple Provari today and have been dripping all day. BUT even with the ego adapter, my clearos look weird on it...I've been reading the forum in hopes of finding a solution so I can continue to use my stock of clearomizers. But what I'm seeing over and over is that I need to get a tank. Really? I mean, they look fantastic but I am NOT a fan of cartomizers. At all. When I started vaping I tried everything under the sun to get a good taste and cartos were last on my list.

I guess my question is this: when used in a tank is the taste better? I don't want to give up taste for beauty...or do I ?

I'll continue to drip but want the ease of a clearo/tank, too.

'splain to me why I should invest in a tank, please.

And thank you.

Wait, so you want to use clearos but you're not a fan of them?

anyways, I had this problem too. I wanted a flush mod with easy fill/vape experience. But, all i heard about cartos are the taste of the polyfill or the nuisance of dripping ALL THE TIME. Then I learned about Genesis Atomizers. I bought a RSST first then an Richman RBA and I dont think I'll ever use a clearo on my provari.

All my clearos are exclusively used on my ego-c & ego twist.

Ikenvape platinum and IB Tank combo. Defiantly changed my mind about cartos. I haven't met a clearo that comes close. Probably not going to beat out a dripper for taste but it will come close. I have some really strong juices like Ecto plasm that I love in cartos, but hate it in my Kayfun. Way too intense in the Kayfun. I don't think there is a best vape devise, I think there are the best in each type, tastes vairy and each one imparts it's own characteristics to the flavor. My friends think I'm a nut for screwing on a carto with a $200 Kayfun filled and ready to go. The closest I have come to dripper flavor though is the kayfun, second would be the killer 705 and third would be the IKV single coil cartos. I use all three regulary and prefer each one for different reasons. If you prefer dark juices though I would take a hard look at Killer/diver devices or if your really feeling froggy, a bottom coil silica RBA like Kayfun, Penny, etc. Again taste is individual so your millage may very.
P.S. not saying IKV Cartos wont do dark juices justice, just they clog and aren't as easy to clean. HHV Sludge will kill an IKV in 5mils of juice, same as a kayfun. I can dry burn the Kayfun clean in like two minutes and be back in business. The IKV not so much.

I'm sure Baditude will jump on here soon. He's got a great blog about carto's. And some really good advice.

wait now I'm confused. Cartos are what go in a tank........unless it's a protank or a vivi, then it's a clearo. If you don't like cartos at all a tank won't make them taste any better, it's just a way to deliver juice. And what Cartos have you tried? I ran the gamut before I took Baditudes advice and tried the IKV's. Also Killer 705/divers are basically rebuildable atomizers/Cartos that go in a tank as well. You said tank, tanks just hold juice.

Cartos have filler. Atomizer + cartridge.

Cartotanks or "tanks" (most people mean this when they say "tank") were the answer to "But my carto doesn't hold enough liquid!"

Clearos have wicks. They were the answer to "...Why does my tank have to have a bunch of filler in the middle?"

Having recently tried too many flavors of juice in cartotanks (curse you, friend-who-has-too-much-money-and-buys-everything!), I'll put it like this: it's like a carto that tastes like you always just filled it. If you don't appreciate a freshly-filled carto, I don't think a cartotank has much to offer you... and seeing as how both times you mentioned disliking cartos you capitalized something, that doesn't bode well.

most resist the urge.......to puchase a diver.........
Do you have a killer as well etratikmind?
If so other than price how do they compare?
I have a killer 705 right now but divers are cheaper and easer to get ahold off.

I'll say it one more time - after I bought my first diver and used it for a week, I sold every Killer I had

Joining the discussion late I see.

Whoever commented about a cartotank having and retaining the flavor/taste of a freshly filled new carto is pretty much correct, IMO. The issue of using cartos solo is you can't see the level of the juice as you vape, so unless you are OCD about topping them off frequently, you'll eventually run into dry hits or a burnt flavor. Once a carto has that burnt taste, it's ruined.

A carto in a cartotank is continuously fed juice from the tank as you vape. It keeps the carto fresh and prolongs its usefulness.

Not all cartos are created equal. This why cartotank users who can get them use Ikenvape cartomizers. These are a premium carto made to the specific standards by Isacc at Ikenvape. If you ever wondered what an American-made carto would taste like, it would be an Ikenvape carto. Unfortunately for him and everyone else, his manufacturer in China won't make them in the numbers that he can sell them. So, they are often out-of-stock. :( My suggestion is to get on the "notify me" email list and when you get the notification they're in, purchase as many as he allows; usually a 25 count limit for each type. I usually order 25 each of the 510 Fusion and Platinum when they're in. Don't procrastinate, they will sell out in a matter of hours.

The ultimate enjoyment of a cartomizer, the same as any other juice delivery device, depends upon using the proper resistance or ohm for the voltage that you are vaping. If I only had the low resistance dual coils that were my first cartomizers to judge from, I likely would have given up on cartos myself. I prefer single coils, and I prefer a cooler vape, so I used standard resistance on my unregulated PVs and use 2.5 - 3.0 ohm resistance cartos on my regulated PVs.

Back to the OP. Since you enjoy clearomizers, have you tried any of the clearotanks available? Top coil varieties for a warmer vape include the Vivi Nova and Kanger T2. Bottom coil varieties for a cooler vape include the Kanger T3, Evods, and Protanks. Some of these require the eGo adaptor to fit a 510 center pin. I've only used the Protank, which has a 510 connector.

I've yet to try a Killer or Diver in a tank yet, but one is probably on my long list to try in the distant future. I'm having too much "fun" with my AGA-T2s and bottom feeder mod for anything else new.

You can find my blog articles by clicking the link below my avatar, then clicking on the particular topic you wish to read.

Any other questions?

After reading many Killer/Diver comparison reviews, I took the Killer off of my list and purchased more Divers.
