I know it's not good form to re-post, but apparently no one reads the clearomizer forum.

I've been using this Mini Protank for cinnamon and the flavor wouldn't come out with water. so I decided to soak it in vodka. After 3 days I pulled it out and found that the top ring (under the trip tip) had red metal showing through. The bottom ring (where the coil screws into) had blackish discolorations and when I wiped it, the black came off. I think it's actually the black chrome coating. This really makes me wonder what I've been vaping. Has anyone else had this happen before? I bought it from a reputable vender.

I am pretty sure all clearomizers are made from chrome-plated brass, originals and knockoffs. The red metal you see is probably some kind of brass oxide, most likely created during the alcohol soak. As long as no raw (or oxidized) brass comes into contact with the juice in the tank, and you don't mind the marred appearance, it still should be okay to use. I don't blame you if decide to throw it out, but if you want to get away from chrome-plated brass you'll need to buy something other than a clearomizer.

Thanks. I was just surprised that the chrome would come off so easily. Also surprised that the black chrome on the bottom ring seems to be some sort of over-coating of chrome. It's also odd that it only happened to certain parts. I don't really use it much as I, for the most part, have switched over to IBTanked carto tanks.
