Just bought a new Mini Protank and was excited to filler'up and pop it on a 1100mAh USB rechargeable. I filled the Mini with juice, put in the coil unit and the connector piece, and screwed it on the battery... pushed the button and... nothing. Tried it on another eGo battery as well... nothing. So I screwed in a 510/EGO convertor/adapter and that made it work, but it looked horrible.

Did I end up with a 510 thread in a box marked eGo thread? Sorry for the dumbness of my question, but I'm still brand new to this!

Hi

At least we know the coil is ok since you got it working with any extender in play.

A common mistake for new vapers is... overzealous screwing. Some people really ratchet their devices down onto a battery - bad. Devices only need to be screwed onto batteries finger tight and no more. (If you can't unscrew your device from the battery holding the PV in one hand only it's on too tight.) If you screwed stuff on too tight it pushed the center post in the battery down. After a while you have a battery that will make contact with some devices and others... not so much.

Get something like a very small flat blade jeweler's screwdriver. You want to insert it between the center battery post and the (usually) black o-ring. Don't ram in it there. lol Just enough that you can feel contact with the metal of the center post. Wiggle it a bit, trying to pull the center post up. Again - very little. Try the mini again. You may need to do this a couple few times to lift the post back up to make contact with the center connector on the ProTank.

LOL I figured it out - I'm just a vaping novice that's all. I took the Mini apart and put it back together - this time I got the head, or coil piece to screw in differently to the bottom connector, and it made the metal part that connects with the battery jut out further. It works fine now and I feel super dumb! Ha! I just wish I had an experienced vaper around to walk me through when I buy new equipment ;)

Don't feel dumb, every time we get a new device there is a learning curve, now when someone else is having the same problem you can help them out. I was such a noob when I got my first ego battery..... I forgot to push the button and thought it was broken. I actually ran across someone else on the forum doing the same thing..........they were getting all sorts of possible solutions (which is nice), but I was such a noob I was able to say....gee are you pushing the button and that was the solution. Glad you solved your problem! :)

Almost all of these 'clearo' type tanks ( CE2's, CE3's, Stardust, protanks etc etc) all have a 'floating' centre pin, if you get a 'mis fire' unscrew it from your device by 1 or 2 turns, take the top or mouthpiece off and use something to gently push down on the top of the head, then gently screw it lightly back on the device- snug-and PRESTO ! ;)
