Just started vaping a little over a month ago. I was a pack and a half smoker for quite a while. Haven't had the slightest urge for a tobacco cigarette since. I'm still hacking up stuff and I'm wondering if it's just my lungs clearing out the crap I put in it for years or if it's due to the minty e-liquids I've been vaping. I only ask because the guys I know that got me vaping mostly vape fruity or drink flavors and they seem fine. Any comments?

It may be the vg or pg in your liquid? Different levels affect ppl differently. Are you drinking plenty of water? Could be your a little dehydrated. When I started I went though 3 days of having a lump of phlegm in the back of my throat that I couldn't seem to get rid of,but it eventually went away. Maybe someone with more xp in vaping will have a more concise explanation. Good luck.

There is no way to tell. Coughing up nasty stuff is part of quitting smoking, but you may be also sensitive to something in your eliquid, as merrick pointed out. I don't think it's the menthol, although it's possible. Try different flavors, if that doesn't help, try PG only, then VG only.

But only one month after quitting, it's not at all unusual to cough. Should it persist much longer, check with your doc--our lungs are damaged from years of smoking, unfortunately--it's better to be safe.

Good luck and congratulations!
