Howdy, All!
This will be the new thread for product updates and discussion on SteamMonkey "stuff".
So, let's catch up with a little break down. I'll start with the Chinese side of my house.
Starter kits: The Chimp and Silverback kits are rolling quite well, I get nothing but rave reviews for this set up. The Chimp Kits includes an Ego Twist, 1100mAh, a Kanger Evod 1.8ohm, a charging cable, and a debridged 306 dripping atomizer for taste testing juices. The Silverback has 2 twists, evods, and chargers, a dripping atomizer and a spare 1.8ohm Evod replacement head. No fancy case, no beauty rings or lanyards, just what you need to get off the analogs and into the wonderful world of vaping. With the dripping atomizer you're able to sample different juices before commiting one to your Evod and since this kit comes with a Twist, you've got the best, inexpensive VV option out of china to really 'dial it in' so to speak. The kits have been wildly successful.
On the mech side of things, I've picked up the Smok Magneto (510 head, adjustable center pin version). This is, hands down, the best mech I've had out of china that's not a direct clone of some other device. Sure, it shares some features with another well known mod, but they put their own spin on things and styled it themselves rather than just taking a picture of a pre-existing device and carbon copying it. I appreciate that, and I appreciate the detail they put into this thing. For the price, it's almost impossible to beat in my honest opinion. The Magneto has a telescopic center section so it can take 18350, 18490, or 18650 batteries right out of the box. You can also throw a Kick2 in there with an 18350 or 18490/500 and turn it into a 15w power regulated monster. The RSST and IGO-W look great on top of it!
Speaking of the RSST and Igo-W, I'm also keeping those rolling in. I've retired the Igo-L from the rotation. The W is pretty much an Igo-L with a second ground post and a spiffier looking cap. it comes with 2 air holes and is quite easy to drill out. The Igo is my go to "intro to RBA" device. If some one is wanting to get into RBAs, a dripper is easy, and the Igo-W is one of the best and lowest cost devices to play around with. As you grow and learn what you like in an RBA it's a great platform for experimenting with dual coils, drilling out air holes, etc. And at 15 bucks, if you screw it up, you won't feel too terrible
Throw in a Monkey Can and you've got the perfect starter RBA set up. The Monkey Can is a purpose built sample pack of wick and wire. It includes a 6 inch piece of Ekowool, Kanthal A1 in 32, 30, and 28awg, a 2x4" piece of 400 and 500 mesh. There's enough in there to get a few builds and try a number of configurations for wick and coil. After you find out what you like, you can swing back to the Monkey and stock up on your favorite bits!
The RSST. The current champion of Genesis style RBAs out of china. Like a lot of Smok's stuff, it's a 'semi' clone. They took a lot of design queues from another device out there but put their own spin. It's got a spring loaded center post for easy tail tucking, a fat wick hole and an extremely easy to build on and forgiving deck. The tank section is a 'cup' so it insulates the wick from grounding out on the bottom of the tank like a lot of RBAs and it builds REAL well with Ekowool if you're not in the mood to deal with oxidizing mesh. This is, much like the Igo-W, my go to recommendation for folks just getting into RBAs. it's easy to build on, relatively inexpensive, and is an excellent platform for building and learning the ins and outs of RBAs. It also looks super sharp on the Magneto! With the adjustable center pin, you can flush mount the RSST for an almost hybrid look.
Also on the chinese front, I've got the AGR V2 and the AGR+ These are both carto tanks, designed around the Boge carto. Both come with the parts needed to run with either the standard length Boge cartos or the XL (or XXL since they're the same thing) cartomizers. Both tanks use a top cap, bottom cap, tank section and a locking adapter. This keeps the carto inside and locked in place so you don't have to worry about the tank slipping and your lovely juice getting all over the place. The AGR V2 is a threaded poly carbonate tank and we offer replacement tubes for it as well. This is great for refilling, you just unscrew the top cap, filler her up, and put the top cap back on. The AGR+ is a borosilicate (think pyrex) tank and has a slightly different design. Inside the tank is a center collumn that threads into the top and bottom cap, when you put the glass tube in and tighten things down, it compresses a couple of orings and seals everything up. it's a pretty smart design. The AGR+ comes with center columns and tank bodies to support both carto types. We also sell Boge cartos in 2 and 3 ohm resistances in both the standard and XXL lengths as well as a nifty little carto punch for making the holes you'll need for the tanks.
Moving away from the Chinese side of the house, I've started ramping up the American made offerings. I just recently put up some hand blown glass drip tips from Envision. the tips are all hand blown, sexy borosilicate tips.
I'm also carrying the Kick 2 is a drop in module that gives you power regulation. This is an update to the original Kick. You drop it in on top of your battery, adjust the onboard dial and it'll give you a regulated output. This update also has a Buck/Boost controller in it unlike the previous Kick. This means it can actually 'drop' the voltage coming from your battery so you can run lower ohm coils with a consistant vape. No more 'hot on a fresh battery, cool on a dying battery' vape. It will be consistant from the first fire down to when it's safety features shut it down and let you know it's time to charge the battery. I'm a HUGE fan of the Kick2 and power regulation in general. This will work in the Magneto with an 18350 or an 18490, it'll also work in the Link devices.
I've got Captivape DS60 drip tips, long, slender, the super model of drip tips. These offer a cool vape, an interesting look, and are 100% made in America.
Now.. The Link. The Link is a Z2 compatible system of mechanical mods that I've designed. This is based on the Zen 2 product line from House of Hybrids. I've used the Z2 thread specification to make a line of products that are fully compatible with the current Zen offerings. This means you can take any of the parts from either the House of Hybrids devices or my own devices and swap them out. Heads, bodies, or switches. The current offerings for the Link include the SteamMonkey Brass tubes in 18650, 18490, and 18350 lengths, A brass button switch, a 510 head and the Link RDA.
The Link RDA is my primary entrance to the High End Mod community. This is a new take on the rebuildable dripping atomizer. It uses a Vertical Coil (Verticoil) set up similar to a genesis atomizer but in a dripper format. This offers a variety of benefits and a HUGE number of build options. The deck on the Link RDA has 2 ground screws for doing single, dual, or even quad coil set ups, it has 2 kidney shaped drip wells milled into the deck to catch spillage and is Z2 threaded so it'll screw into any Z2 compatible body (SteamMonkey tubes, House of Hybrid tubes, the Sidewinder, etc) for that sexy hybrid look.
With the Link, the battery tubes are brass, the head is 316L Surgical stainless steel with gold plated contacts. The switch has a brass button, a 316L stainless steel housing, and all gold plated contacts. The 510 head is also 316L stainless steel with a gold plated center pin. The Collectors Edition is available in limited numbers, the primary difference in the CE is that all of the Stainless parts have been given a super durable Gunmetal coating. This isn't paint, it's not powder coating, it's not annodization. This is a state of the art Vapor Deposition nano coating that is straight up military grade and beautiful. For more detail on the Link system, hit up the USA hardware section of the store and check out the videos and descriptions.
Now, last... but definitely not least. E-juice!
I've been slowly adding a limited selection of e-liquids. I've currently got Ejoose brand liquids, some limited stock of DBLiquids brand, and the SteamMonkey exclusive, Grizzly Vapes.
Ejoose's Dead or Alive is one of my personal favorite liquids. This is a rich and sweet tobacco blend, it's got notes of graham and marshmallow and a deep, earthy tobacco base underneath it. All of the Ejoose brand stuff is amazing but DoA is among my favorite juices ever.
Grizzly Vapes is a whole different beast. You haven't had juice like this and this isn't just a sales pitch. The first offering from Grizzly Vapes was Nannerbear. When I got my sample from Walter (the mad scientist who makes this stuff) I sniffed it and thought "hrm, a banana juice, ok." I threw it in an atty and took a hit. On the first hit, I raised an eyebrow. What was I tasting? I couldn't figure it out. I knew there was a lil banana in there, maybe a hint of coconut... I took another hit and both eyebrows went up. This was, hands down, the best e-liquid I'd ever tasted. It was confusing, I couldn't pin the flavors, I picked up notes here and there, a rich, dark undertone from some sort of tobacco and an almost herbal but not medicinal note that weaved the banana and coconut flavors in with the tobacco and whatever that 'other' flavor is I couldn't put my finger on. Every hit I got a slightly different note or hint of flavor here and there. On inhale it's mildly sweet and earthy, on exhale it has a sort of smooth cooling sensation, not menthol, not mint, no idea what it is but it's unlike anything I've vaped. I ran through a 30ml bottle in 2 days and haven't slowed down yet. The juice never gets old. As soon as your tongue gets used to it, the flavors .... and change. It's an obscenely complex juice. When I talked to Walter about this, he just laughed and nodded. His mixing process is unlike anything I've heard of being used by anyone else. You see, Walter is a Chemist... he's isolated the various components in the flavors he uses and rather than mixing em like a drink at a bar, he combines them in a purpose built, multistage, process that blends the components together and stabilizes the juice so that it's essentially 'presteeped' and extremely stable. I've had a bottle sitting here for 2 months and it tastes almost identical to a brand new bottle I just got from him. The process he mixes with developes the flavors together, blends them, and creates something that, even if you had his exact ratios and ingrediants, you couldn't reproduce without his process. It's truly something special.
He has since developed the second bear in the Grizzly Vapes line, Kokobear. This juice uses the nannerbear process and base but adds in a couple of additional flavors. You might guess from the name, but it has some chocolate going on
Again, he hit this out of the park. He didn't just throw a lil chocolate in and call it a day, he incorporated the new flavors in with his existing process to make, yet another, out of this world juice. Koko, in particular stands up to pretty high wattage vaping. It has that awesome base of Nannerbear but adds a rich chocolate flavor with an almost gourmet chocolate truffle style finish. The first hit I had on it reminded me instantly of a fancy chocolate fondue I had once that had a a vanilla liqueur and some over the top fancy chocolate melted into it. It's got that sort of 'fancy' chocolate taste to it.
Coming soon, we'll have the 3rd bear available, Polarbear. Stay tuned! Once the third bear is announced, we'll be launching the Goldilocks box which will include 1 of each of the 3 bears for a slightly discounted price.
Grizzly Vapes juice only comes in 30ml bottles, only comes in 3 nic strengths, 6, 12, and 18, and is only available in Max VG. We can't do 0 nic because the nicotine is integral to the flavor blending process and we can't do another ratio for the same reason. We 'Could' do other bottle sizes, but we're not going to! Rather than offering up bigger bottles, which we get asked about CONSTANTLY, I've decided to offer up a Bulkybear discount. If you order 4 or more bottles of a particular flavor of Grizzly Vapes juice, it'll automatically discount 2 dollars off per bottle. From 4 to 400, you can stock up and get a little price break. I know how it is, this stuff is addicting!
There's a lot more to be found at Vaporizers, Ecigs and Accessories other than what I've got listed. Drip tips, accessories, RBA supplies like stainless steel mesh, Kanthal A1, and Ekowool. Which, by the way, Steammonkey is one of the only officially licensed distributors of Ekowool in the US
. More news and updates will be coming!
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me here, via the store, or on any of the various social networks I frequent!
