Greetings,

I'm pretty new to vaping and after a few false starts found something that really worked for a new user. Mistics had good vapor and long battery life. And now I'm refilling them which has turned out pretty good. So for now I'm sticking with them while I get a better grip on the more complicated upgrades.

So, the questions is, some of the batteries give a fairly hard draw. They are 808d-1's (sorta) and draw air through the tip. I've opened the top (removing the LED basically) and I see the battery inside with 3 contacts.

But I can't work out where the air flows through. I don't think it goes right through what I believe is the battery but there doesn't seem to be any space or holes around the side.

Any idea where the air intake is on these?

I have not seen the mistics up close, but try loosening the connection between the cart and the battery just a bit and that should let in more air.

Are you sure it is certain batteries and not certain cartos? Refilling is great for saving money, but they can only be refilled so many times before performance will begin to drop. Pay attention to which cartos and which batts are causing problems. It may be time for some new cartos.

Hope one of these tidbits helps. :)

Like the last poster, check carto first, just try to blow through it while its off the battery. Sometimes the stuffing gets poofie and clogs itself.

I don't see it onmy mistic, but other 808 D-1s have a tiny hole along the edge of the threading. The carto has notches that alow air to get to them. Ocationally these tiny holes can get cloged. A damp cloth / Alchahol wipe the battery thread can clean that up. Allow to dry before use.

OK, just ripped the led cap off, the air flow does come through the led cap, the notches on the inner part let air in. The air goes though the battery. Without the cap, and I placed my finger on the end, could not draw, and the led went out (finger stopped glowing).

On the battery(s) with hard draw, try takeing cap off.. see if that helps. I't will be ugly and prone to damage though.

I'm pretty certain it's the battery, I have several going and can take a cart from an easy draw and put it on one of the hard draws and it's hard to draw on.

While trying to work this out, I took the LED cap off and it didn't improve. I saw those little slots but they don't appear to be the problem.

Inside the top there's the battery with 3 contacts. Around the battery there's a black plastic ring. I don't know if it's attached to the battery or the case, but it has several little black posts arranged around the outer circle. The black plastic ring seems to make a pretty solid seal between the casing and the battery.

One the top of the battery there are 2 tiny tiny holes on the top surface of the battery. They don't seem very deep but they don't seem to serve any purpose.

I got a magnifying glass out and for the life of me cannot see any air intake inside the top of the case but I know it's there. Is it possible there's a little moving part in there that opens when air is drawn through it? (but is otherwise closed when looking for it?)

It's hard to believe an e-cig manufacturer would completely re-engineer something like this...I'd think that they are similar to other batteries of the same type but maybe not..

That can possibly be the switch.
A flutter valve thing, like that little flap in an inflatable beack ball. Opens to allow air into ball, closes to keep air from escapeing. But only in reverse in the mistic's case.
In all honesty, I think the thing you see with the 3 contacts is just a circut board w/led. It looks to be raised and supported to stay in the area it is in. I believe if that board is removed, one would see an intake hole. I'm not ready to destroy my battery just yet.
