Wow...great question. Taste seems to change for the first 4 weeks of moving from analogs to vaping...some juices that I really loved in the first few weeks...now...not so much. I think the best advice for a new vapor is to buy several small bottles and just roll with what ever tastes good that day. Some days you will not taste anything at all...kinda weird. But, the good news is that a month in you will find something that tastes great for days...then weeks...then months:)

Hang in there and take good notes...you will find your sweet spot:)

...finding the right juice is the hardest part of the whole deal...if straight flavs are too much for ya, get some unflav and mix accordingly..many folks vape noflav nic juice and many vendors sell it...you can also find USP grade PG/VG at your local pharmacy and cut what you have...it will reduce flav as well as nic content..........

This may be a silly question... Straight up just seems to be too much flavor.

Tis not silly at all. A 'straight up' was my first fav flav! Currently, my 'can't get enough' flav is my DIY peach. What may read as a great combo usually does not taste as reasoning would lead you to believe.

If you're fortunate enough to find a vapable straight flav that doesn't ring your bell, try adding another flav several drops at a time.

Flavs are a fickle genre...

Thanks for all the input- looks like it's an ongoing experiment, ha. After 46+ years of analogs, I'm sure that taste buds will have a ways to go before settling in. Forums are great but also overwhelming with all that is available, tho I AM grateful that there are lots of choices considering that e-cigs have not been around that long.

Get ready to spend some money to find what you like, but it's worth it to stay off analogs. And yes your taste will change so don't give it away right away. I had some Black Tea from CigNot I thought was awful and it was steeped for 3 weeks. Tried it 6 months later and loved it. It's 100% VG so mixed in some Bloog RY4 which I thought was a little sweet by itself and now have a new all day vape.

If you get a chance, please sign the petition. We are asking the White House to consider e-cig as an "effective alternative" to smoking, however we need 5,000 signatures before the 27th of this month to get an official response from the White House. Still a little over 500 signatures short and need your help. Register on the White House website will allow you to sign other petitions as well. Thank you in advance.

I tend to prefer a ry4 at 18mg. I like the sweetness. I don't care for dessert juices or anything too fruity. I really enjoy a coffee flavor. All 18mg. That seems to be the "it" for me. Maybe that'll change.
And +1 for steeping. If you don't like it at first give it a while. For some reason this works really well with a lot of coffee type favors.

A lot depends on where you get your juice and what flavors you are using. Unfortunately, trial and error is the only certain way to find out what works for you. One thing you might want to try is getting some cheap nondescript tobacco juice. Virginia from Madvapes comes to mind. Mixing it with a flavor that is too strong will allow you to mellow it quite a bit.

Well, ya got me beat by a year there. When I started vaping I was SURE that I'd have to go with the 'bakky flavs. Lo and behold, couldn't vape the 'bakkies' and now my fav flavs are the fruits. Ya just never know until ya try.

Good luck in your quest!

Do you mean DIY using flavorings + unflavored PG and or VG w/ nic?

Every flavoring is different. Some need 1/2 of 1 drop (like tobacco absolute) and some need 5%, some need 10%, some need even more. There are some guidelines for some flavorings in the DIY section of ECF, in the guide there and in lists in and linked to from it. But some of those guideline are just manufacturer suggestions and unrelated to what vapors prefer. Also, in the comments at Perfumer's Apprentice you can find some peoples' suggestion for the flavor they are commenting on. And some people recommend trying to make a no-nic 1ml or 3ml sample to get your flavor right with cheap plain PG and THEN make your real liquid.

For sure, concentrated pro flavorings are not Eliquid and are typically 5x to 20x too strongly flavored to be vaped. Flavorings are not meant to be vaped.
